Lia’s Pizza Syosset Long Island

In the land of the blind, the one eyed man is king. Its about all you need to find Lia’s Pizza, a newcomer to Syosset Long Island. Just seven months at their new location (Franklin Square and Oceanside for its other locations), Lia’s is tucked away in the corner of Bagga Plaza just west of the 135 (Seaford – Oyster Bay Expressway). Seems like many pizza places have come and gone in this little area of Syosset, and I am not sure why. Most of the other pizza places around Syosset have been there for dozens of years.
Complete with an espresso bar and a clean, warm and hospitable setting, Lia’s Pizza is a great place to grab practically any slice you want. Y’know what I’m ‘sayin?. Fuggedaboutit!!!

Denino’s Pizzeria & Tavern Staten Island – Best Pizza Staten Island

In the Port Richmond section of Staten Island, NY lies one of the TOP pizza places in New York City. Yes I am basically saying this could be the best pizza in all the boroughs of New York City NYC. I grew up in Staten Island and the debate always raged between Denino’s Pizza and a few other places on Staten Island, but unlike most other pizzerias, Denino’s Pizza seems to get better and better each and every time. I have so many stories about Denino’s Pizza, that I don’t even know where to begin. When I moved to Bayonne, NJ I asked my neighbor for a recommendation on where I could get some of the best pizza, and he proceeded to give me directions which involved going over the bridge to Staten Island to get this wonderful pie.

Davito’s Italian Restaurant Pizza Boca Raton – Grandma Slice

When it comes to pizza, I am a fan of many different types. You have your regular, Sicilian, white, coal fired, Grandma, etc. While at Davito’s Pizza, which just opened in Boca Raton, I figured I would give the Grandma slice a try. The typical Grandma slice I am used to, and have grown to enjoy, is a slice that is usually crispy with a nice garlic flavoring to it. It is not over-sauced, and normally comes with a good amount of cheese. As soon as my Grandma slice from Davito’s in Boca Raton arrived, I knew something was wrong.

Centro Cucina Pizza Greenvale, NY

Mad Greek here, back home on Long Island after ten weeks of torture in West Palm Beach. It seems to me that people tend to escape reality and move down to Florida for a specific reason. Either they couldn’t make it back home, or they are trying to escape something. Either way it doesn’t make for a winning experience for those that try to do the right thing.
Back to reality and the best pizza in the U.S. – New York proper. Tonight’s delicacy comes as a result of a two headed pizza attack, that started at Joanne’s Gourmet Pizzeria in Roslyn, Long Island, where yours truly had the grandparents – thin crust grandma and grandpa. Personally I think that is an adorable name for a slice combination, I am sure someone else down in Florida will steal it after reading this.

Nicky’s Pizza Savannah, GA

Far, far away in one of the oldest cities in America, lies a little pizzeria called Nicky’s. It is off the beat and path, about 10 mins or so from downtown Savannah in the city’s Garden City district. You might be asking yourself by now… what is the Mad Greek doing in the middle of nowhere chowing down on a slice of Nicky’s, reheated pepperoni pizza?
Is he lost, and looking for helping being located? Is he trying to find the county of Hazzard? Or is he is feeding his addiction to finding the perfect 8 for 8 slice in America. I’d go with the latter of the three. Unfortunately, Nicky’s did score an 8, but don’t lose hope, it was pretty damn good considering.

Vic & Angelo’s Pizza Palm Beach Gardens on PGA

I’ve been building this one up to a crescendo. Although I was only in Florida for about a few months, I tried to find a local pizza place near me that I could make my homebase. For several weeks now, I’ve frequented the establishment known as Vic & Angelo’s Enoteca (Greek for “wine repository”) in Palm Beach Gardens. The last three weekends I have tried the classic oddities off their otherwise extraordinary menu starting with their tuscan chicken wings (yes, chicken wings), followed by their grass fed double patty hamburger (did I mention this was a fine upscale Italian restaurant?), to their Mott Street artesian pizza (for my bon voyage from not-so-sunny West Palm Beach).
The Mott Street pizza at Vic & Angelo’s in Palm Beach Gardens is nothing short of fantastic. Made with the finest ingredients, Vic & Angelo’s uses a coal fired oven to make their masterpiece pies (all in all about 6 different types). The pizza comes out in minutes, and seems to stay consistently hot throughout the serving process. The garlic bread before the meal was great, and the service is always top notch.

Davito’s Pizza Boca Raton

A new pizza place just opened in Boca Raton named Davito’s Pizza, in the Boca Greens shopping center, where Anna’s Kitchen used to be. Anna’s Kitchen wasn’t around very long, and it was easy to tell they would close their doors or sell one day. They had a strong opening and eventually started to go down hill. Even their garlic knots started to suck. The family who owned it seemed nice enough, but sometimes nice guys don’t finish first. I never thought another pizza place would take its location. Seems odd that there are two pizza places in the same shopping center out there. Stella’s Pizza is also located within steps to this pizza place.
Andy and I decided to go check it out to see if it had potential. The ambiance seemed relatively the same as Anna’s used to. Seriously, I do not think they changed almost anything, but then again I didn’t really pay attention when I first ate there to notice if they did, in fact, make any changes. I ordered a center Sicilian Slice and then a Regular Slice once done. Andy ordered a Grandma Slice. Hopefully we will see the results of Andy’s slice in another review here, for just the Grandma Slice. Right now I will only focus on the Sicilian Slice and save the regular slice review for another time.

Camilli’s Pizza Lake Park, FL

After finally buying an Eco-Friendly car, we decided to celebrate and go try out the pizza place which my salesperson said was the best in the area. Since I never seem to learn who I listen to when it comes to pizza suggestions, I for some odd reason trusted him, and went to Camilli’s Pizza in Lake Park. Even though I know this has nothing to do with the review, Lake Park must have been nice in its day (it certainly isn’t anymore). It has all the makings for a real cute southern main street, but somehow let the outside elements get to it, and now it just appears desolate and run down.
Normally if a place is open for 42 years, like Camilli’s Pizza, it is safe to say that they are either really damn good, or all of the other places are just really bad. I naturally thought the first statement would be suitable, since this old looking inconspicuous pizza joint, was kind of busy during the off hour we went. The young server came to the table in the arcade section of this dated place. We had no idea where to sit, if we were even seated in the right section, if we should order at the counter or wait. We ordered a plain pie and some garlic bread with cheese.

Schiano’s Pizza Raleigh North Carolina
Ed Note: This is the first post from a new reviewer of ours named Pat. Hopefully we see plenty of other reviews from them in the future.
Since this is my first time reviewing a slice on WorstPizza.com, I wanted to let all the readers know that I have traveled up and down the entire East Coast and have had hundreds of slices leading up to this review. Recently I was visiting my daughter in Raleigh, North Carolina. I found a local pizza place called Schiano’s Pizza. It is located in the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center.
Schiano’s Pizza has a great deal, 2 “New York Style” slices, with one topping each and a soda for $5. The owner hails from Brooklyn, New York but is originally from Napoli, Italy, and took over this Pizza place from the previous owners.

Puccini’s Pizza Boca Raton

The new shopping center on the corner of 441 and Yamato Road in Boca Raton opened up about a year ago and originally housed another Renzo’s Pizza location, since having two already in Boca Raton wasn’t enough. A reader sent me in a note saying that the original owners sold the place already and for some odd reason, a new person bought it, and renamed Puccini’s Pizza.
So I went to try the place out since I never made it to Renzo’s before they sold, and I specifically ask the guy behind the counter what happened to Renzo’s Pizza that used to be there. The guy assured me that it is the same EVERYTHING as Renzo’s and they just changed the name. I find this odd since it isn’t like Renzo’s Pizza to not want the branding associated with a new place, if they were still 100% involved. Could Puccini’s Pizza be lying to me?
