Schiano’s Pizza Raleigh North Carolina
Slice Rating
Ed Note: This is the first post from a new reviewer of ours named Pat. Hopefully we see plenty of other reviews from them in the future.
Since this is my first time reviewing a slice on WorstPizza.com, I wanted to let all the readers know that I have traveled up and down the entire East Coast and have had hundreds of slices leading up to this review. Recently I was visiting my daughter in Raleigh, North Carolina. I found a local pizza place called Schiano's Pizza. It is located in the Pleasant Valley Shopping Center.
Schiano's Pizza has a great deal, 2 "New York Style" slices, with one topping each and a soda for $5. The owner hails from Brooklyn, New York but is originally from Napoli, Italy, and took over this Pizza place from the previous owners.
Today as I had their special I looked at the slices and it was immediately noticeable that the crust was cooked perfect crisp with just a dusting of flour on the bottom, the way Pizza Expert prefers. The sauce was light, not too sweet though, and the cheese a good mix of mozzarella. It didn't taste like Grande cheese. I believe their supplier is Roma. I think most of the readers here should know about this place since being from New York, it is very hard to get a good slice of pizza in North Carolina.
I know Pizza Expert takes his ratings very seriously, and I was having a hard time deciding what to give this slice. I noticed in the past he gave Luigi's on 5th Avenue in Brooklyn a perfect 8 out of 8 rating, but when I went there, I thought it was a 7 out of 8 at best. And I know they mostly review plain slices on this site, but I like toppings. So.....Schiano's Pizza gets 6 out of 8 slices. By the way they also make a great calzone.
