Little Menna’s Pizza Deerfield Beach
After receiving a tip from someone who used to work at another place in Boca Raton that I really liked, I decided to give Little Menna’s Pizzeria a try. Little Menna’s is located on 1619 SE 3rd Court 954-482-0914, near the Cove. I do not think I would have ever found this place, since I was unaware that there are two pizza places in the same shopping plaza directly across from each other. Seems odd that the landlord would allow this, but I guess in these hard times, ethics don’t matter.
Upon walking into Little Menna’s, I thought it was kind of cute. The decor was nice, and the whole feeling was quaint. They do not have many tables inside and only a couple outside, so if this place does get busy, there will most likely be a long wait. The lady behind the counter was plesant, and said she was friends with the owners. She must be very good friends, since she took her job passionately and seemed proud to work for them. What I found odd though, was how hard she pushed her Christian beliefs on me as a customer, but whatever, I am not there to review religion.
I ordered a slice to split with my son, and waited since they just had a fresh pie coming out of the oven. Like most pies fresh out of the oven, the bottom was a bit soggy, and since my son and I have no will power, we bit right in and burnt the roof of our mouth. You would think we would have learned by now. The cheese was really good here, and I scraped every piece off the plate. The crust had a nice taste, but I didn’t care much for the sauce. The sauce was pretty powerful and overpowered the cheese and crust. It was garlicy, and way too spicy for me. My advice would be to cut back on some of the seasoning you are using in the sauce guys. You have the potential to make a really good slice if you could fix the sauce up.

Upon the suggestion of Big Jim at BarCamp Orlando, we went to Dan’s Midnight Pizza in Downtown Orlando near Wall Street Plaza. This will be the first and last time I listen to Big Jim! 
A discounted gift card to Renzo’s Pizza in Boca Raton. This could be a sign of things to come for the economy, or show us how ripped off we were getting previously paying full price, or even just show that Renzo’s pizza was really wholesale quality pizza in disguise?
A new place opened up in the former space that used to house Bilotti’s Pizza, or maybe it was Boboli’s Pizza, or maybe even Sal’s. Who knows they all looked alike once inside, and pretty much all had the same crappy taste to them. Another mom and pop shop opened up soon after, but seemed to go out of business just as fast. Now it is Mediterranean Pizza’s turn to step up and try and make this hidden location work. 
During my second visit to Mediterranean Pizza, I took my son to get some new taste buds in the mix. We ordered a small plain pie from the un-attentive waitress, and started to wait. Based upon the time I ordered the pizza to when it went into the oven was a long time. This was obviously due to our waitress being unorganized. When the pizza finally came out of the oven it looked really good. This time there was no extra cheese placed on top of it like my previous time. They should learn to be consistent and serve the slices and the pies the same way. I liked how little sauce was placed on the pie and soon took my first bite. My son took his first bit around the same time and we both gave each other a look of disappointment. The dough was well undercooked, and tasted pretty bland. The cheese even didn’t have a great taste to it, and I would comment on the sauce, but like I said earlier, there wasn’t really any. Based on my experience with our server (we were there for over an hour total, for a small pie) and the lack of effort placed into this pie, I will give Meditteranean Pizza 3 out of 8 slices. If they want to put a little more TLC into their pies, they can contact me and I will happily come in again to try it.
Mmm, doesn’t that pizza look so fresh and tasty? Want to guess where it’s from? No. No. And no–I’ll pretend you didn’t read the headline. As much I love Leona’s, I never really associated its yum factor with their pizza. I finally tried it, and I was absolutely delighted.
