Romeo’s Pizza Restaurant West Palm Beach

While killing time in between meetings the other day, I drove west on 45th street to see what was out there. If you drive east on 45th street in Mangonia Park or Riviera Beach (I am not sure what area it is there) you will know that this is a risky decision. I had no idea what I might encounter out these ways, but I was bored and decided to try it.

I passed by a crummy looking shopping center while heading west and noticed there was a pizza place inside it called Romeo’s Pizza, so I decided to spin around and see what it was about. Upon pulling in and parking, I almost decided to leave before even getting to Romeo’s Pizza. There were numerous undesirables hanging around outside the stores nearby, some asking for money, others just asking for trouble. Not very comforting. Once I saw the closest one to me get distracted by a stopping car, I quickly walked in.

Pie-Zan’s Pizza Fort Lauderdale

A friend of mine asked me to journey on down to Fort Lauderdale the other day, since he found some good pizza that he figured I should try. The place he was recommending was Pie-Zan’s Pizza on Andrews in Fort Lauderdale. Andy and I decided to drive down last week to check the place out and see if it was any good. When we arrived, I realized it was a place I had noticed previously, but didn’t really care for the area, and kept driving. Usually any place that is located next door to a bail bondsman, is a place I try not to stop at.

Since I had big Andy with me, I felt safe enough to venture out of the car and check Pie-Zan’s Pizza out, and I am quite happy I did. Upon arriving I noticed a sign that said that Pie-Zan’s was voted best pizza by WPLG Local 10 news, so it seemed that someone liked this place already.

City Cellar Pizza West Palm Beach City Place

Herb and I went to go meet a friend the other night in City Place, which is in West Palm Beach. Originally we were going to go to Bellagio, and sit outside near the fountains, but our friend decided she wanted City Cellar instead. Although I had eaten at City Cellar in West Palm Beach before, I never paid attention that they had a few pizzas on their menu. Previously I had the hamburger, and prior to that I had something else which slips my mind.

City Cellar was extremely quiet on this Monday night that we went. I think there were maybe two other tables in this huge establishment. Even the bar only had a couple of drunkards scream at a tv thinking that they could actually change something in the basketball game they were watching by throwing profanities at the little box. Another reason I have never drank or ever will. I ordered a plain pie (like usual) and waited.

Rosso Italia Pizza Boca Raton Wyndham Garden Hotel

The Wyndham Garden Hotel in Boca Raton just got a new restaurant inside, where Mario’s used to be housed. Rosso Italia just opened up and after a beautiful redesign I decided to go check it out and see how their pizza tasted. Rosso Italia is owned by the same people who brought us Red The Steakhouse in Miami. Red The Steakhouse is internationally known as one of the finest places to get a Steak while in Miami. Luckily enough for those of us who reside in Boca Raton, Rosso Italia is connected to Red The Steak house in the Wyndham Garden Hotel in the Boca Raton location, so we get two upscale restaurants in one convenient location.

Although Rosso Italia has a pretty extensive menu, I went there with one thought in mind. Pizza Pizza Pizza. Upon walking into the modern, open restaurant, my eyes immediately were drawn to the pizza oven, which is almost in front of you. Rosso Italia uses a gas oven here for their pizza, so I was curious to see how it would taste, since some friends who went there said it was Neapolitan style pizza. Neapolitan style pizza is usually cooked in a wood burning oven, so I was hopeful they would get it right, and serve me up a good tasting pizza.

Cafe Gia Pizza Medford, Long Island

Medford is a town in Long Island that I really never spent much time in. I probably couldn’t point it out on the map, even after growing up about 30-40 minutes away. When my friend Richie asked if I wanted to try some new pizza places out those ways, I agreed and we made a stop to try Cafe Gia Pizza, which is a very popular pizzeria in Medford.

Cafe Gia Pizza was a pretty sizeable place. When you first walk in you are greeted with a huge glass display of the pizzas they have available for slices. You order and move down towards the cashier, pay, and wait for your pizza to come out. Yes, Cafe Gia unlike the idiotic pizza places down here, allows you to carry your slice and pick out your own booth, without the interference of a server.

Mamma’s Pizza Delray Beach, FL

I was surprised to see that a new place just opened up where Capri Pizza was in Delray Beach. Seems like Capri Pizza only stayed open for a month or so, before closing down. When I drove down Atlantic Ave the other day to head towards Scuola Vecchia pizza, I noticed that the new pizza place was called Mamma’s Pizza, so I made a pitstop and went to try a slice out.

Mamma’s Pizza is located directly across the street from the Police Station, and Courthouse. They are a close walk to the Tennis Stadium, and the Fire Training center. This little plaza even has residents living above it in a nice new building. What I am trying to say is there is a lot of potential for business here, the only negative parts for Mamma’s Pizza is that they are also walking distance to where Delray Beach gets real nasty looking, and also nowhere near where all the nightlife and pedestrian traffic are at night.

Cucina Dell Arte Pizza Palm Beach

Amidst the diamonds, pulled back faces, and 70 year old men with 25 year old girls in Palm Beach, lies a pretty good restaurant known as Cucina Dell Arte on Royal Ponciana. Many people, especially the younger locals (you know the ones that actually live on the island for more than two weeks a year) say this is one of the better restaurants to dine at, and to see and be seen. They especially recommend the breakfast at Cucina Dell Arte, but I was only interested in visiting there once I heard they had pizza on the menu. I do intend on going back there for breakfast one day, since the outside dining patio seemed like a really cute place to enjoy a Sunday morning meal.

Cucina Dell Arte in Palm Beach is simply decorated in mediterranean colors, and the staff was cordial and attractive. There is a bar in the center of the establishment, and kind of intrusive for those trying to walk by or around it, but that doesn’t seem to stop the families and couples dining there throughout the day, especially in season.

Two New Yorkers Pizza Boca Raton

Out in the South West portion of Boca Raton lies a pretty dead, and unappealing strip mall. Never would have I thought to eat at a place there until many years ago Tony’s Authentic Brooklyn Pizza opened up shop. Many others seem to venture into this plaza, since there is also an Oriental Massage, which I am sure is licensed and sanitary. Well, Tony’s eventually went under and a couple of other pizza guys tried their luck, but also failed. Several months ago I noticed that a new pizza place took over in this west Boca Raton area again. Two New Yorkers is the name of the new joint, so when heading down 441 one day I stopped in to check out what they had going on.

There were a few aesthetic changes inside Two New Yorkers Pizza, but didn’t really seem like much of a difference. Certainly appeared cleaner than some of the other places before it. Typical goombah photos since that is so original a decoration to have in a pizza place. Not sure why pizza places think that by having murderers and criminals on the wall makes it seem like a true Italian pizza place, but to each their own, I guess it is the cheapest way to decorate a place. They should have spent more time and energy designing their website since even some sites that have been up since the creation of the internet (thanks Al Gore) look nicer than the one they have.

FireStone Wood Fired Pizza Dothan, AL

I have always wanted to write a review here, but Pizza Expert has a lengthy screening period to make sure that we really are pizza connoisseurs and not owners trying to put up good reviews about their places, which probably happens daily to him. After sending in many critiques of places I have eaten pizza at along my travels, he agreed to post this review about FireStone Wood Fired Pizza in Dothan, AL. That is correct, I found some pretty edible pizza in heart of Alabama.

For those of you who never heard of Dothan, AL it is a quaint city located towards the southeastern part of the state, and not that far from the Florida border. Not a place I had ever heard of prior or been to myself, but my job gives me the luxury of travelling all around this great country, and while I was there for a few days I heard about this really good pizza place called FireStone Pizza.

Pompei Restaurant and Pizzeria Rocky Point, NY

It takes a lot lately to get me to give my opinion about a pizza place when it is bad since I really do not want to hurt their business in any way, shape or form. So in order for me to give my opinion negatively about a place, it really must have tasted a bit wrong. In my opinion Pompei Pizza in Rocky Point was below par and it was hard for me to find many redeeming qualities. Well one quality I should immediately point out was that the staff there was very nice, and extremely welcoming. That is something I look for before I eat.

What can I say about Pompei Restaurant and Pizzeria in Rocky Point except just as they spell the word Pompei incorrectly (maybe they did this on purpose, but the correct spelling is Pompeii, at least for the old town) the pizza in my opinion is just as incorrect.
