Cheeseboard Pizza Collective Restaurant Berkeley
Cheeseboard Pizza Collective is a worker owned collective of 12 people who served a different pizza each day. It is located in North Berkeley’s Gourmet Ghetto. They also serve a single type of salad. Cash or check only. There can be a line around the block at peak times. It is next door to the Cheese Board Collective, which sells cheese, bread, muffins, etc.
The Decor, Vibe – Clean modern place with someone playing music much of the time. Some seating inside and outside. Lots of typical Berkeley-ites including students.
The pizza we ordered hadRed Bell Pepper, Onions, Kalamata Olive, Mozzarella Cheese, Feta Cheese, Garlic Olive Oil, Italian Parsley Pizza ($2.50 slice, $20 entire pie)
This was the pizza of the day. It had crunchy crust over half of a slice, while the rest was chewy and not soggy. Cheese was high quality and very good. This is one heavy pizza even though it had no meat and was not thick crust. Good stuff.
We did not miss meat when eating this pizza.
This is very good pizza in a interesting venue. It could only occur in Berkeley. The bakery next door is great. Lots of fresh bakery items. We would come back if we were in the area. I will give Cheeseboard Pizza in Berkeley 5 out of 8 slices.
Thanks Food Nut!
Pizzaiolo Restaurant Wood Fired Pizza In Oakland California

Food Nut was out in Oakland and ate at Pizzaiolo Restaurant. He ate the wood fired pizza and gave us this review. Decor, Vibe – Dimly lite, exposed brick with lots of wooden booths. Hipsters in their 30’s, couples, and a couple families were eating. I started with Annabelle’s Chicories ($9) with persimmons, walnuts & Gorgonzola was a very good salad. Some bitter greens balanced with fruit, cheese, and a light dressing.
Margherita Pizza ($13) was a classic pizza with very good cheese and very thin crust. Crust was just right when it arrived, but it got soft after about 5 minutes. Flavor was very good. Size was pretty decent. Rapini & Housemade sausage Pizza ($17) was heavily flavored by the Broccoli rabi. Crust was similiar to the other pizza. Make sure you like broccolli. You can always add Sausage to another pizza instead.
Pizzaiolo’s service was adequate but not as attentive as we expected. Servers were pretty casual. The pizza here is the draw and it is good. The Margherita pizza was better at Gialani in San Francisco.
Be sure to make a reservation as a line is present before they open. Glasses of wine start at $6.50, with bottles from a reasonable $16. I will give Pizzaiolo’s Pizza in Oakland 5 out of 8 slices.
Bakesale Betty is down the block. Be sure to visit them before your meal.
Vic and Angelos Pizza Delray Beach

Went out to Vic & Angelos the other night. This place just opened a week ago but they have their act together. It is in a location where other places tried but failed. This place is a winner. It is owned by David Manero Restaurants.
The place is very nice and has a great bar. They have glass windows to see the kitchen and the waiters are all in orange crocks. (I do not know why you need to know that). Supposedly they even import the water from New York, but I have yet to prove this.
We had the Pizza (Great dough and very good) as well as the Calamari, fried zucchini, and the chef sent out some butternut squash tortellini. (That was my favorite. The 4 of us were stuffed so passed on the entrees that all looked great. We had a bunch of deserts to try and the Italian Cheesecake was the best I ever had in Florida. We ordered Zeppolli’s but they forgot to bring them. The pizza had a great tasting crust, and the cheese was delicious. The sauce was a little spicy, and I would probably put more cheese and sauce along the edges of the pizza.
The bread to start was also beyond all expectations of FL. bread. This is a winner and I hope it keeps up the high level of food and service. I will post actual photos of our food. I will give Vic & Angelos in Delray Beach 6 out of 8 slices.

Red Rock Pizza In Boca Raton Closed
Well for those of us that drive along that deserted road known as NE 1st avenue in East Boca where Red Rock Pizza used to be, you might have noticed the broken windows and note on the door saying they had a family emergency. Although it might have appeared to most that they were coming back soon, it has been confirmed by a worstpizza.com expert reviewer that Red Rock is not coming back. This is a sad day in Boca Raton, we have lost one of the truly good coal fired pizza places.
Apparently there was a death in the family which caused the initial shut down. From what I gather, the family started to have disputes about the establishment, while in the mean time letting the lease expire. One of our reviewers assures me that they are not coming back, and that the landlord has included this space in the downtown redevelopment project proposed by Crocker. This would include selling the entire city block to the developer. If this fails it appears the landlord himself might take a stab at opening a pizza place.
We spoke to the landlord in hopes of bringing Umberto’s Of New Hyde Park into the location, but he didn’t seem to think it was possible. The original Umberto’s (not the one that tries to pass itself off as Umberto’s in Deerfield and Pompano) definitely wants this spot for a new location, and as one of his biggest fans I think we should all inform the landlord that he should allow a delicious pizza place to open there instead of opening his own.
Recently someone informed me that all the equipment in the former Red Rock Pizza location was removed, including the bar. I will have to go by and check for myself. We will miss you Red Rock!
Cici’s Pizza Buffet Deerfield Beach Florida

So, Sunday I was driving my son around with my wife, when he started his usual “I’m Hungry” chant. Since we were heading down in the Deerfield Beach vicinity, I suggest maybe he wants Red Caboose BoxCar Burgers, which is our White Castle equivilant of South Florida. When we got to The Red Caboose I was quite surprised that they closed on Sundays. The very day most people will pick up sacks of burgers for the football games, they choose to be closed. Lucky this isn’t a site about worst burgers.
We ended up driving into the shopping center across from The Red Caboose and that is when my son noticed CICI’s Pizza Buffet. He has loved going to this place since he was a baby. It is loud, he can eat instantly, and he gets to watch cartoons while eating. Does it really get any better then this for a child? But wait, if you answered yes, I should mention they also get to play video games when done eating as well. How can you go wrong with a $4.99 all you can eat buffet (I think it is only $2.99 for children). Even though the cheese tastes like some oil concoction, and the sauce is like chef boyardee, it still tastes better then some places that charge that same $4.99 for a single slice of crap. Places like peace a pizza fail in comparison to this pizza buffet.

Personally I got the deep dish plain pizza, which I special ordered from the cashier. A nice thing about Cici’s Pizza, is you can custom order any dish or pizza and they will make you as many or as little as you want. My son quickly devourered the spinch slice and the white pizza which he seems to enjoy. He then washes it down with their dessert pizza, which consists of several choices. They have apple pie, chocolate fudge and some other thing I couldn’t tell what it was. I do not really like their regular pizza, so if you happen to be stuck going to Cici’s Pizza, make sure to order the deep dish.
Let me just clafiy my view on this place one more time. In no way am I suggesting you go and eat there (unless you enjoy having the runs), but if you can accept that you get what you pay for, heck, even more then what you paid for, you might want to eat there. Especially if you are on a budget. I will give Cici’s Pizza in Deerfield Beach 3 out of 8 slices.
La Prima Pizza Boca Raton Or Is It Pixxa

Since everyone abandoned me for lunch today, I hopped into my car and started to drive aimlessly. Along my journey I recalled a place I once noticed driving by, but never stopped because the shopping center looked rancid. Recently, it appeared that the pizza place did a little remodeling so I stopped in.
La Prima Pizza is located on Federal Highway just north of Jeffrey Street in Boca Raton. It is in the shopping center where the Neighborhood Coffee place USED to be. Odds are many of our readers have never even noticed this place, and if they are in any way like me, they drove past it without even giving it a second look.
La Prima Pizza only has a few tables inside and this seems to be more of a take out / delivery type of establishment. Anyways, I ordered the 2 slice and soda special and waited. The pizza guy behind the counter asked me twice if I wanted a fork and knife which seemed odd since I usually never eat my pizza with utensils. The pizza was ok, and I will not complain too much about it. The crust was pretty crisp while maintaining not to be burnt. The cheese seemed a bit on the cheap part. If I was La Prima Pizza, I would switch to Grande Cheese. There wasn’t too much sauce piled on the slice as well, which wins points with me.

I find it odd that La Prima Pizza would purposely spell their name like pixxa on their menu. It appears to me that is says La Prima Pixxa and not Pizza. Someone should have proofed the font before printing. La Prima does not have a vast array of choices on their menu. You either get pizza, salads, subs or Calzones & Stromboli. Two of the things I find peculiar about this place is that 1. They do not offer meatballs as a topping but they offer it as a sub, and offer Tuna and other crap instead. 2. They put a Brazilian Flag on their promo card. I thought the Italians are known for pizza, and didn’t realize by placing a Brazilian Flag on their promotional materials would make people think that they are better then the rest.
I will give La Prima Pizza in Boca Raton 4 out of 8 slices, and I will be back to try it again soon to see if I missed anything….which I doubt.
Cape May Cafe Breakfast Pizza Disney World
As we continue our vacation in Disney World, we were excited to have breakfast with Minnie Mouse at the Cape May Cafe at Disney’s Beach Club Resort in Orlando, FL. This is a nice breakfast option if your staying in the Epcot area. It is a character breakfast with Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Donald and sometimes Chip & Dale.
As they did not offer eggs to order, I started to consider the Breakfast Pizza. And you know what, it was really good. How could you go wrong with eggs, bacon, salsa and cheese baked into a pizza. It was embarissingly delicious. I kept going back for more. It was the best part of this meal (outside of my eating company). Now I do not think this will replace a traditional pizza, or a traditional egg breakfast dish, but as I write this, I want some more. 4 of 8 slices.
Pinocchio Village Haus Pizza at Disney
Located in the heart of Fantasyland, in the Magic Kingdom of Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida, lies Pinocchio Village House. While I do not want to stake my reputation on this review, I have to say I like this place. Not just like, but look forward to this pizza when at Magic Kingdom. It’s a great location, no pressure, filling meal.
We sat outside and just watched everyone on the dumbo ride having fun, watched the people walking past, and enjoyed some decent pizza. My threshold question in evaluating a pizza place is Would I go back? And the answer is an emphatic yes. And so far, I have not been disappointed. The pizza is about $6 and a nice salad can be added for $2. Everyone in the family was happy and ate their pizza, so Pinocchio gets 5 out of 8 slices. Plus you can sometimes meet Mary Poppins outside.
Pizzeria Picco Pizza Restaurant Larkspur California

FoodNut was near Pizzeria Picco on 320 Magnolia Ave 415-924-0300, and we’re always up to try another pizza place, especially one that is recommended by a foodie god and run by famed chef Bruce Hill. Pizzeria Picco was rated as a top pizza place by Michael Bauer in August 2008.
This restaurant is located in Larkspur just a couple blocks from the original Lark Creek Inn. They have their main high end Picco restaurant next door. Pizzeria Picco has Straus Dairy soft serve for dessert. Their pizza’s are named after bike companies. Someone is really into biking here.. Flash Frozen pizzas also are available.
Decor, Vibe – Modern decor with lots of wood showing. Counter seating inside and some tables outside. Families and friends in their 40’s were dining at the time.
Margherita ($10.95) tomato, basil, mozzarella, parmesan and De Padova extra virgin olive oil had a super crunchy Neapolitan style thin crust and even a crisp center. Quality cheese and olive oil. Better than the other pizza we had. Specialized ($13.50) Hobbs’ pepperoni and house made sausage, tomato, mozzarella and basil looks great but did not have the crunchy crust of the Margherita even though it looked the same. Crush was more chewy and mushy. The sausage was a little zesty. Pepperoni and house made sausage were in plentiful quantity and tasted good. Not much cheese on this pizza. Note: We took the got the pizza to go and ate it 2 minutes after we got it.
The pizza came in about 15 minutes, pretty quick. Service was good. If we were in the area and wanted pizza, especially margherita pizza, we’d come back. We wouldn’t drive all the way out here just for the pizza. Compared to our favorites, we’d rank this place below San Francisco’s top places including Gialina, A16, and Paulines. Reasonable wine prices with glasses from $6. I will give Pizzeria Picco 5 out of 8 slices.
Escape from New York Portland Pizza
“More like Clown York City,” says DT, though I can’t say I agree wholeheartedly. The Escape from New York pizza shop located on 622 NW 23rd 503-227-5423 is definitely up there among the best ones in Portland: the old cash register’s nice; the employees are no-nonsense folk who move people through the line fast; and the staff pictures are pretty cool. But one does wonder if this shop actually escaped from New York or was simply kicked out.
The first slice I ever had here a couple years ago was fantastic. Each time I’ve returned, however, I’ve been served a different kind of slice. While they’ve all had the same slightly sweet sauce (which I’m not a huge fan of), the crust has always varied in crispiness, from almost cracker-like to floppy and doughy. The cheese is fine and evenly distributed, but nothing special.
This place has been at the top of everyone’s list for some time now; and while its notoriety will keep it up there among the best, it can’t and won’t propel it to the top in this growing Portland pizza scene. I will give Escape from New York 5 out of 8 slices.
