Florida Marlins Stadium Pizza in a Suite

There are a couple of people who make me happy that I moved to Florida. One of those select few is Matt’s Pizza, who also reviews on this site. Matt always seems to think of my family and I, as well as many of his closest friends, when he has cool things to do. This time around, Matt graciously invited us to his wife’s birthday party, in a suite he got for the evening at Sun Life Stadium, to watch the Florida Marlins play the Phillies.

Mamma Caruso’s Pizza Miami

The Brickell area of Miami has really turned around, and established itself as a night time destination. They have tons of great restaurants, and a vibe that rivals South Beach on some nights. Arriving way too early to meet a potential client, since I anticipated traffic that didn’t exist, I noticed Mamma Caruso’s Pizza as I was circling looking for a spot. This wasn’t easy since their sign from road only says pizza not their name.

Eventually I made my way back, pulled in, and decided to chance eating in Mamma Caruso’s Pizza, even though there wasn’t another patron in site. Upon walking in, the friendly staff welcomed me (en espanol) but it was nice just the same. Although I didn’t understand if I should seat myself and wait for a server (I was obviously hoping this wasn’t the case), or order from the counter and then sit and wait. Maybe I should even order from the counter and just wait for the food. I chose option 2 and it luckily turned out to be the right choice. I ordered a plain slice and waited at the table for the slice to come out of the oven.

Pizza Bar South Beach Miami – Biggest Slice of Pizza

After spending another hot and humid day in South Beach, we were walking back to our hotel, when I noticed a place called Pizza Bar, right near the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Miami Beach. They had this sign in the window that stated that they have the best slices of pizza in South Beach, so it intrigued me enough to walk inside and take a look. Pizza Bar was very much like all the other pizza places on South Beach, long and narrow and a glass display of the slices they are offering. The one thing Pizza Bar did have differently than most of their competitors was how enormous their slices actually were. They were  HUGE! This made me feel the need to try one of them to see if they were any good.

Veggie Slice…All The Way. Casola’s Pizza, Miami.

I thought I was being Punk’d when my slice came out. I seriously thought Ashton Kutcher was going to pop out with the cameras and the laugh was on me. But they were 100 percent serious when they brought the tray out.

Casola’s in Miami Roads is known for its free samples and “double slice” slices and but this was the biggest slice I have been served there since I started going in 1992.   It was so big it was almost a garden disguised as a slice of pizza.  It was so heavy it bended the tray. And it was so voluminous, it couldn’t be finished in one sitting.

But how was this slice from this mom and pop pizzeria and sub shop that has been going 30 years strong?

Maco’s Pizza & Pasta Dadeland Station South Miami

I decided to bring a group (you can read their reviews below) to rate Maco’s Pizza & Pasta in Dadeland Station. I didn’t want my opinion to be your only deciding factor to visit this hidden pizzeria.

For this visit we had two large pizzas, one margarita and one “Delight” (mushrooms). I found the pizzas to be “light”, perfectly cooked, and not greasy (I DIDN’T have to allocate a percentage of my napkins to whipping the grease off). The crust was even, a light tone and not soggy. The sauce has a sweet opening and ends with a light spicy kick. Overall, I don’t feel guilty or sick after.

Pizza Rustica South Miami, Florida

I tried to clear my virtual cache, cookies and erase my browsing history before I walked in the door as this had been a KFC for so many years.

As I drove there, I eyed three other pizza places that were either packed or looked full. This place was nearly empty and it took a little bit too long to order as there were only 5 other customers total and two were already seated.  The server wore one of those Janet Jackson headsets as there is the old KFC drive through service, but didn’t really need it as only one car drove through while I was there.  A cheese slice is any pizza places’ litmus test so that’s what I went with- the Margherita. The menu calls it a “huge slice,” but this reviewer has to disagree.  Fortunately I like my slices a bit on the crispy side, but this was a bit over-crisp (as in may have been sitting around too long).  I almost brought it back and asked for a fresh one.

Blu Pizza e Cucina, South Miami

This post comes from Lore! This is my first time reviewing pizza here and I was quite pleased to have had the opportunity to try Blu Pizza in South Miami. I had the Cheese Pizza it was great teasting, although the dough could have been a little crispier. I didn’t let the crispiness of the crust bog me down though since the taste of it was great.

This pizza had just the right amount of spices and the tomato sauce was on the sweet side, very flavorful. Just a fabulous combination of flavors. They have a lunch special M-Thursday that includes a smaller version of their pizza and a salad. Even though it was Friday, I was willing to pay full price, but I wanted a smaller pizza (trying to control portions and if I have it infront of me I eat it), but the waiter didn’t want to accomodate. The manager overheard the conversation and I he made sure I was happy and apologized for his staff.

Lombardi’s Italian Restaurant Pizza Bayside Miami

Met a buddy of mine from New York who was in Miami for a few days. After the hour long ride down there, I was pretty hungry and we decided to meet at Bayside and pick out a restaurant.  Bayside has plenty to choose from so I figured it was a safe bet, and if all else failed we could end up eating the crap at hooters while trying to enjoy the view.

We wandered around a little bit and I noticed a place I had personally never seen before, towards the deader section of the mainly outdoor shopping center. Lombardi’s was pretty empty on this lovely afternoon so we almost decided to try somewhere else, in fear it sucked enough to keep others away. Since none of us felt like waiting, and the kids started complaining, we ended up getting seated inside.  We were the only table inside this restaurant.

Aura Pizza South Beach Miami

After attending the ExxxoticaMiami event at the Miami Beach Convention Center, I got a bit hungry (and not just for food 😉 ) so I went to meet my family, who were staying down there for the weekend with me on Lincoln Road. After wandering around for a bit, and realizing how expensive the clothes at the Original Penguin Store are, we decided to eat.  Initially I wanted to try Da Leo on Lincoln after @johnnybond86 told me it was pretty good.
