Quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had in South Florida. How crazy is that?! South Florida? Of all places...
Seriously, with all the north east transplants down here that beat their fists into their chests when expressing pride in their love for the NY/NJ tri-state area you'd figure that one of them could make a decent pizza. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. In fact, one of my favorite pizza places in Fort Lauderdale actually hails from Pittsburg (
Primanti Brothers).
However Pimanti Brothers cannot compete with the pizza I had last week. This pizza was almost perfect. The crust was crisp yet delicate.

Papa Joe's is a local chain of Italian restaurants in the Central Florida area that used to be really popular. Their Altamonte Springs and Lake Mary Blvd locations almost always had a wait, and then they started to expand. As they opened up more and more restaurants in the area, their food and service became worse and worse. After a while I decided the restaurants weren't worth eating at anymore. Eventually other people must have gotten the same feeling because the restaurants seemed to no longer have waits to eat, and Papa Joe's closed all of their restaurants except for two in Lake Mary and one in Altamonte Springs.
After years of not eating at a Papa Joe's, I decided to give them another try and went to the

I innocently walked over to
O'Zone Pizza to have a salad. But after remembering that the Monday night special is a half-priced 16 inch-pizza, that salad idea was put on a back burner.
First let me describe the space. O'Zone, as well as a coffee shop, another restaurant and several offices, are located in the old
Sacred Heart Hospital. Built in the Gothic Revival style and opened it the early 20th century, it's a very beautiful building from the outside. Inside, there are hallways that surround the restaurant that look like one would imagine in an old hospital: wide and spooky. In the bathroom, there are remnants of whe

Recently I ordered take out from
Dalli's Pizza in Lake Mary, FL. I ordered a half cheese/half meatball pizza. It was a pretty good pizza for the most part. The only problem was that the meatball half of the pizza was extra crispy, while the cheese half didn't seem to be cooked as much. Maybe they cooked the meatball side in a warmer part of the oven due to the extra toppings or maybe their oven needs some adjustments and cooks unevenly. Besides from the unevenly cooked crust, the pizza was pretty good.
It also seems like there have been some changes in Dalli's. The last two times I've gotten food here, it has been extremely noticeable that there is a completely new group of people working here compared to in the past. I'm assuming there was some sort of ownership change, but regardless, the food is consistent with what it always has been in the past and the pizza is good! I will give Dalli's

Mrs. Pizza took Pizza Boy to a birthday party Saturday. The hosts ordered from Perrini's Pizzeria & Ristorante on 441 in Boca Greens, Boca Raton, FL (561)488-4371. Mrs. Pizza did not care for it. She thought it was doughy and lacked taste.
As I have discussed in previous posts, often pizza arrives at a birthday party cold, and sometimes appears that the pizzeria didn’t put as much care into the pizza as they normally do. This is what I think happened today. In their rush to get the pizza out the door, this wonderful little restaurant did not cook the pizza’s through. This lack of caring is a problem many restaurants face, and may be exacerbated by Perrini's birthday party special (5 or more pies for $8.99 each).
Since I happened to be in that very same shopping center with Pizza Jr. (my daughter), we decided that we have some pizza for lunch. Perrini's is often regarded by some of the locals out in western B
