Giordano’s Pizza Lake Buena Vista
When in Orlando, I usually like to hit UNO’s for some Chicago style deep dish pizza. On the way there, I saw a billboard for GIORDANO’s Pizza- just a few blocks away on Apopka-Vineland road in Lk Buena Vista. This was a good thing. Years ago there was an UNO’s at Towncenter in Boca. Too bad for all though, it has been gone for awhile so now I get deep dish only when I travel.
I had never been to Giordano’s and was excited to give their deep stuff a try. I was happy to have this unexpected option…Uno’s seems to have drifted toward frozen pizza aisle, store bought sub-mediocrity.

Little Italy Pizza Lake Worth
As we were driving to Dom & Louie’s pizza in Lake Worth, I noticed a place on the corner of 45th Ave and Hypoluxo Road. We walked inside Little Italy Pizza and felt like we stepped back into a 1970 filming of Columbo. This place hasn’t been updated in years! Little Italy Pizza is located on 4595 Hypoluxo Road in Lake Worth 561.434.1000. It is in a pretty run down strip mall on the North West side of the intersection.
One of the positive things that Little Italy had going for itself, were their prices. This pretty large slice of pizza cost me $1.75

So You Think You Know Pizza: The Pizza Expert Meets the Wine Expert in New Jersey
I traveled to New York City and some of my old stomping grounds from my home in Boca Raton, Florida, to ultimately meet with Gary Vee (Gary Vaynerchuk) and be a guest on his show Wine Library TV in Springfield, New Jersey. I was excited about the idea of pairing wine with pizza for a lot of reasons, one of the biggest being that most people don’t think of wine when they think of pizza.
It promised to be unique, fun, and even definitely cool. It was definitely exceeded my expectations and it ended up being all three of those things.

Piola Pizzeria South Beach Miami Pizza

Matt (mattspizza on the site) and I were in Miami and decided to check out a few places we both had never been to before. We went to Piola Pizzeria right at the end of Lincoln Road in South Beach. Located on 1625 Alton Road, between Lincoln and 16th St 305.674.1660, Piola Pizza, is a place that my Italian friend Davide says has some of the best pizza in Miami. When he says it with that fancy accent, and his fingers pointed in the air like some famous Italian statue, it makes it relatively impossible not to try it. Piola is deceivingly big inside.

The Sicilian Oven Pizza Second Try

My family and I were meeting some old friends from college the other day, and decided to go to The Sicilian Oven in Lighthouse Point on 2486 N Federal Hwy 954.785.4155. My previous experiences at The Sicilian Oven have been outrageous, so it seemed like the natural choice. Based upon my friends reactions, after they took their first bites, I knew I made the right decision.
I have enjoyed The Sicilian Oven so much in the past that I had a PizzaTweetup there even! But on this occasion, something miraculous happened. The ancient winds blew east instead of west, and the moon aligned, because I was served some pretty amazing pizza like I hadn’t tasted before.

Giordano’s Stuffed Pizza in Kissimmee, FL
Not long after my initial experience with Giordano’s Pizza, I ended up eating at one of their other touristy locations with some visiting relatives. This Giordano’s is in a Chinese themed strip mall on 192 in Kissimmee. The mall is near the former site of Splendid China, and although the park has sat abandoned for years, the mall still looks very pagoda-like. From the outside, it felt like Giordano’s should have been a Chinese restaurant. (more…)
The Original Pizza Land in Ocean City

The Original Pizza Land in Ocean City, NJ is a boardwalk pizzeria that is a step above the rest. Maybe it’s the salt air, but there is something about the beach that makes pizza taste better. (more…)
A Native Chicagoan’s Review of Lou Malnati’s

Chicagoans have all heard of the following pizza places: Gino’s East, Giordano’s, Home Run Inn, Lou Malnati’s, and Pizzeria Uno. Chicagoans also usually run a gamut of opinions on each of these respectively or sometimes have the same collective opinion that these are all “commercial” chain pizza restaurants that don’t reflect how good Chicago pizza can get. I can respect that and sometimes I feel the same way. But last night I had Lou Malnati’s deep dish pizza, and it was one of the best I have had in awhile. (more…)
PizzaVolante Design District Miami Pizza

Mikey and I stopped into the Miami Design District to PizzaVolante. Although it is extremely easy to pass this place and not even realize it was there, you might be able to find it if you look for the old Blue Car they have in front. The address is 3918 N Miami Ave Miami, (305) 573-5325. (more…)
PizzaTweetup at Nino’s of Boca
Last night we had an impromptu mini PizzaTweetup event at Nino’s of Boca. Although we were only supposed to have 20 people max show up for the event, we actually ended up with 34. When people started canceling on me, I was actually quite relieved since I didn’t want the owner to be angry. Thank goodness it was not an excessively busy night there, as it usually is. About an hour prior to the event, the owner texted me saying the place was packed and all tables were still occupied. I feared that when we all arrived, we wouldn’t have anyplace to sit, and I would have disappointed many who came to try this great pizza.
