Rocco’s Pizza St. James, Long Island

roccospizza.jpgIt has become part of my routine when I visit Long Island to take a trip to Rocco’s in St. James, New York.  Rocco’s has always managed to provide me some amazing Sicilian pizza, very similar to Umberto’s Pizza.  During my recent visit there, the pizza was far from Umberto’s style, or even their own style for that matter.

Lucali Pizza Carroll Gardens Brooklyn

lucalis.jpglucali_pizza.jpgThere is something that is alluring about mobster run pizza establishments.  While researching Lucali’s Pizza in Brooklyn, I came to realize that this incredible pizzeria actually has a reputed Colombo crime family member working there.  That made the visit even more exciting.  You know some proud Italian gangster, is not about to serve sub-par pizza.  A this pizza was as far from sub-par as they come.  This pizza was amazing.

Maccheroni Pizza Sevilla Spain

macceroni.jpgmacceronipizza.jpgAfter leaving Madrid, Mrs. Pizza and I took an excursion to Sevilla (Seville) to check out some of the sites.  This was simply a disguise in order for me to be able to try some pizza around the county!

Maccheroni Pizzeria was a place we passed by while walking through the city.  It looked inviting enough and we decided to step inside.  Unlike our previous pizza experiences in Spain, this one was based on starvation and necessity.  We actually decided naturally to visit this place and enjoy a hot cooked meal. Maccheroni was a nice break from the unfamiliar foods we had seen on many menus we checked out.  Their menu had a plethora of different pizza selections.  Pastas were also in abundance.

First PizzaCookoff Anthony’s Coal Pizza Aventura

teamlamonica.jpgWe have our first ever Pizzacookoff winner!  Last night The Sun-Sentinel, WorstPizza, and Anthony’s Coal Fired Pizza, together with almost 70 pizza enthusiasts crowned Mike Lamonica as the King of Homemade Florida Pizza Recipes.  Mike and his throng of loyal #teamlamonica fans were there to witness the voting tally.

Mikes Vegetarian Nightmare (not pictured here) won in a landslide victory with 31 votes.  For his efforts, Mike received a $50 gift card to Anthony’s, a Full Vehicle Wax courtesy of The Ultimate Car Wash with locations in Dania and Parkland, and bragging rights forever!

Pink Pizza for a Cause at Tomasso’s

pinkpizza.pngOctober was Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For the month of October, Tomasso’s Pizza and Subs of Boca Raton, FL announced that they went PINK!!!

During the entire month of October, when anyone ordered their special “Go Pink Pizza” with PINK pizza sauce, a whole wheat crust and fresh veggies, 100% of the proceeds were donated to BRCH Foundation Go Pink Challenge , a community-based movement that supports the technological, educational and research needs of the Center for Breast Care and Lynn Cancer Institute at Boca Raton Community Hospital.

Vinny’s Pizza Jupiter Florida

There is a balance, an art form, a science, and a a lot of skill that can make one of the simplest foods into a delicacy. In the quest to find a place that balances these elements without pretension or self-proclaimed greatness, Vinny’s Pizza in Jupiter, FL stands out in a crowd of so many in the immediate area.
