There are times in my pizza experiences that I have questioned if the place was really worth the wait.  Grimaldi's Pizza under the bridge in Brooklyn is one of the places I didn't really need to wait around for.

Out of all the other places around the Brooklyn area, some people think this is the best they have ever eaten.  These people need to get their heads examined and try some of the other local places around town.  Places like Motorino, Lucali, Roberta's, BLOW Grimaldi's pizza away. You cannot even compare Grimaldi's to some of the finer places.  So to think that we actually had to wait to get into this place was a sin, after trying the pizza.

Now, let's say that there was no line and the staff wasn't a bunch of complete jerks.  I might have enjoyed this pizza a bit more then I did.

We were seated after waiting in line for about 30 minutes in a corner area, literally on top of the window and with barely enough room to move my elbow.  I got up and went to the bathroom, which seemed to have as line a long as the outside line to get in.  Since I was right near the oven, my iPhone naturally came out to take a photo for you all.  This is when the management and pizza guy came running at me saying I am not allowed to take a photo of the oven here.  Yup, you heard me, you are not allowed to take a photo of this brick square that has a hole in the center of it, where they heat it and put in dough, sauce, and cheese!  What a novel approach to cooking pizza.  I mean, we wouldn't want the competition to know that they make pizza in an oven! So good thing they prevent their patrons, who wait in long lines to get in, then sit extremely uncomfortably tight tables, from taking a mere photo of the brick.  So foolish guys!

When the pizza came (and it came fast), it was good, but nothing extravagant.  It didn't taste any better or worse than the Grimaldi's I have had in Long Island.  Good thing they hide their oven from photos.

They have good cheese, and decent crust, but the sauce was generally bland.  Not worth the wait folks.  With that being said, it is still worth trying it if there isn't a line to get in.  If there is a line, go wait at Motorino in Greenpoint instead.  You will thank me later!

Grimaldi's Pizza in Brooklyn gets 5 out of 8 slices.

Oh and by the way, here is a photo of their oven!  Amazing, it has brick and heats things!
