Agnello’s Authentic Coal Burning Brick Oven Pizza, New City, NY

Learned about Agnello’s Authentic Coal Burning Brick Oven Pizza place from the show “Restaurant Stakeout” on the Food Network. The host was there to critique the servers and one of the owners. During the show, he said that the pizza was pretty good. Also, the owners claim to be related to Patsy Lancieri of the famed Patsy’s in Harlem, so I thought it worth a try.

A couple of preliminaries. First, no free refills on the drinks, but there is a sign clearly stating the policy as you walk in, so you at least have fair notice. The décor is nicely done, warm and inviting. I was looking forward to seeing the owners, having watched them on TV. In particular, Steve Agnello seemed like an interesting character. I did not get a chance to speak with him, but even from a distance you can tell he is a pretty intense guy. He seems to bring that intensity and passion to his pizza.

Galaxy Pizza Fort Lauderdale Inside The Coral Ridge Mall

My wife dragged me to the Coral Ridge Mall the other day. I never even realized there was a “mall” in this location, I just thought that there was a Target, Marshall’s and TJ Maxx located in the same strip mall. Once inside the Coral Ridge Mall I quickly learned there wasn’t much more to it other than these stores, and a few smaller straggler stores every now and then. I guess there was a reason I had never been in this mall before, and probably won’t find myself going back to.

While my wife was looking around in one of the stores mentioned above, I took a walk to see if there was any food around. Mainly I wanted a drink, and not to eat, but when I discovered Galaxy Pizza inside this Fort Lauderdale mall, it seemed only natural to have a taste.

Satelite Pizza Bayport, NY

Found myself in the small town of Bayport, Long Island the other day. For those of you who never heard of this place, it is actually where The Hardy Boys were based. I have no idea why I know that, but since I did, I thought you should all know as well. Obviously I saw a pizza place, and had to stop to check it out for the site. Satelite Pizza had outdoor seating and looked cute inside so it seemed like I would enjoy it.

Satelite Pizza in Bayport was pretty busy for this off hour. Usually when a place has steady business throughout the day and not just at lunch time, it is a recipe for success. So with positive thoughts in mind, I headed on in and placed my order.

Porcini Pizza Smithtown, NY

After one of my son’s games the other day in Smithtown, Long Island, I decided to celebrate with some pizza. We passed by Porcini Pizza on Terry Road, which I had never been into, so we agreed to stop and try it out, so Pizza Expert could at least get a new review out of our travels.

Once we went inside my phone started ringing and wouldn’t you know it, I had to leave to go get my other son, so we asked the friendly pizza guy to put the slices in a box and figured we would eat them in the car on the way.

Tony’s Pizza Delray Beach

Somehow I turned into the guy who gets the oil changed in his wife’s car for her. While waiting I walked across the street to Tony’s Pizza in Delray Beach to see what it was all about. Tony’s is tucked away along the northern side of this run down shopping center at the tail end of Delray Beach on Federal Highway. As a matter of fact, since they only have a sign that says Pizza, I didn’t even know it was called Tony’s Pizza until I walked in the doors.

Tony’s Pizza didn’t seem to love air conditioning since on this extremely hot day, they had the door open, adding to the heat the ovens were giving off.

Brooklyn’s Brick Oven Pizzeria Edgewater, NJ

As a native New Yorker who relocated to New Jersey, finding good pizza on this side of the George Washington Bridge can be challenging. Even those with great reputations, while good pizza, are not really on par with what the city has to offer. However, Brooklyn’s Coal-Burning Brick Oven Pizzeria is one of the best in the state of New Jersey in my opinion, and rivals the well known brick oven pizzerias in New York City. I ordered a regular pie with mushrooms and extra cheese, no greens. (I personally do not like basil or oregano, quite similar to Pizza Expert).

Ferro Pizza Tamarac, FL

Many years ago when I first moved to Florida from Long Island, I used to take my since departed grandmother out to dinner every Wednesday. Throughout our travels we stopped one day to try Ferro Pizza in Tamarac. Since we all agreed that we enjoyed the food here, it became our safe place to go. The place where none of us really complained about the food, or how hot or cold the soup that came with the meal was.

Since we usually had the dinner specials (very reasonable) at Ferro in Tamarac, I never really had the opportunity to try the pizza. The other day when heading back from the south I decided to stop back in and see what their pizza was like. It had been about 9 years since I set foot into this establishment and safe to say nothing has changed as far as the decor goes.

Tennessy Willems Wood Oven Pizza Ottawa Canada

Well my job brought me up to Canada this time, Ottawa specifically. Such a nice looking city with friendly inhabitants. I do not think I will judge entire countrymen based upon the South Park guys anymore. After working a full day I got kind of hungry and heard about this wood oven pizza place named Tennessy Willems on Wellington Street. So I took a ride to see if it was any good. Since Pizza Expert doesn’t have much in the way of Canadian Pizza Reviews, I thought it would only be right to send one in.

Tennessy Willems Pizza was nice inside and if I had to guess I would say the restaurant  holds 26-30 people, so it isn’t a place you can just walk right into if they are busy. It was sort of noisy inside, but that doesn’t seem to bother me very much. I zone in on the pizza and forget anyone else is there anyways. So I grabbed a chair and began my wait.

Allora Pizza North Palm Beach Northwood

The Northwood section of West Palm Beach still isn’t a place I like to go to, since it doesn’t feel safe and is just steps from street walkers and drug dealers. I recall many years ago a builder in West Palm Beach mentioning to me that the smart money was heading to the north of downtown and closer to Northwood. Well safe to say I haven’t seen any smart money these ways, nor do I think anything smart will happen for several years. A few restaurants recently took advantage of the cheaper rent up these ways and decided to take a shot at attracting some folks to frequent the area.

One of these restaurants is Cafe Centro which has a pizza place called Allora Pizza attached to it. Not sure why they have a different name since they share the same bathroom, kitchen and servers it seems. But, here we were at Allora Pizza or Cafe Centro or whatever it was. All I knew is they had pizza and that my friend was buying.
