Victor’s Pizza Delight Melville NY
I guess everyone has that acquaintance who seems to think he knows the “best” everything. He has the best plumber, and the best dentist, even the best tire guy. Sure, during previous “best” recommendations he managed to fail me. Like the time he said “I know where the best garlic knots are in New York”, and like a fool I actually went there to try them, only to find they were far from the best. Note to self: never take advice on anything Italian from an Irish guy.

Tommaso’s Pizza Smithtown New York
Obviously I didn’t eat the Sicilian shown in the photo above. It was overcooked on top, and raw looking on the bottom. It appeared to have sat there most of the day with no takers. Since I am not a gambling man, there was no chance of me trying this.

Rocco’s Pizza St. James, Long Island
It has become part of my routine when I visit Long Island to take a trip to Rocco’s in St. James, New York. Rocco’s has always managed to provide me some amazing Sicilian pizza, very similar to Umberto’s Pizza. During my recent visit there, the pizza was far from Umberto’s style, or even their own style for that matter.

Rosa’s Pizza Huntington New York
If you have read some of my prior posts, you will know that the 2 original Queens, NY Rosa’s locations have received tremendous approval ratings from me. Lately they have began to spread throughout the city and across the Island, slowly diluting their quality.

Grandma Pizza from Umberto’s of New Hyde Park
After visiting King Umberto’s, we decided to give another Umberto’s a try. This time we went to the Umberto’s in New Hyde Park. I thought I ate here a few years ago, but the restaurant was set up differently than I remembered.

King Umberto’s Pizza Elmont Best Pizza
King Umberto’s in Elmont, NY holds the top spot on my list for best pizza. It’s a mandatory stop whenever I’m on Long Island, and the pizza is almost always excellent. One of the factors that sets King Umberto’s apart from the others is the variety of pizza that’s always available by the slice, regardless of the time of day.

Matt’s Pizza St. James New York
My father and I stopped at Matt’s Pizza in St. James. I have never been to Matt’s but my dad has ordered from them in the past, and suggested I at least give it a shot. Upon walking into Matt’s, I couldn’t help but notice how dirty the place was.

Patio Pizza and Caligiuri’s St. James New York
My sister seems to like to order from Patio pizza and since I have only had take out up to date, I thought it would be wise to finally stop in and grab a slice. A lot of people new to the area might think that Caligiuri’s Restaurant and Patio Pizza are not the same place. They are actually connected inside and the restaurant portion is called Caligiuri’s, while the pizza place is called Patio Pizza.

Gio’s Pizza Miller Place Long Island
It never ceases to amaze me how developed eastern Long Island has become. The further my sister drives me out on the island, the more and more new strip malls and houses pop up. We were heading out to the Hamptons, when my sister told me about a pizza place my father and her like to frequent when out those ways. She thinks they have some really good garlic knots, as well as some quality pizza. The name of the place is Gio’s of Miller place.
