In the space that formerly housed Carlucci’s Pizza in West Boca Raton for numerous years, you can now find the newly opened Umberto’s of Long Island. Please do not confuse Umberto’s of Long Island with Umberto’s of New Hyde Park. As we have pointed out in previous reviews here, there is no relation outside of some brothers who from our last accounts don’t even really speak.
Many places seem to fear the reviews they will get from us after we eat there. Usually this is due to their poor quality, or lack of knowledge making pizza. Amato’s on the other hand took the proactive approach and invited the Pizza Experts in to try their pizza and review it. This says a lot about their confidence.

Muvico recently sold their Boca Raton movie theater to Cinemark. As we have previously stated here, in our opinion Muvico was a much better run theater under the previous owners. The new owners have raised all the prices, lowered portions and have given most of us a sub-par experience.

Behind FAU there is a section called the Research and Development Park. In past years it was reserved strictly for Research orientated companies. We looked at space for a company there years ago and were told we would have to have some sort of research focus.
Just when I thought that the former Bloomin Newmans pizza location was unsellable, and un-leasable, someone proves me wrong and takes a pretty big chance buying a location that has been doomed for failure.
A new Italian market opened up in Boca Raton at the Boca Center, occupying the space where Bombay Kids used to be. Known as Josephs Classic Italian Market, they have a variety of freshly prepared foods and even a pizza oven. If Bombay Kids would have sold pizza they probably would have had a better chance of serving one that I would like.

All good things come out of Brooklyn, don’t they? The Dodgers, my Grandma, and damn good pizza.
And eventually, all good things that come out of Brooklyn migrate somewhere else. The Dodgers went to Los Angeles, my Grandma went to Century Village, and Authentic Brooklyn Pizza came to Boca Raton.
Last night we had an impromptu mini PizzaTweetup event at Nino’s of Boca. Although we were only supposed to have 20 people max show up for the event, we actually ended up with 34. When people started canceling on me, I was actually quite relieved since I didn’t want the owner to be angry. Thank goodness it was not an excessively busy night there, as it usually is. About an hour prior to the event, the owner texted me saying the place was packed and all tables were still occupied. I feared that when we all arrived, we wouldn’t have anyplace to sit, and I would have disappointed many who came to try this great pizza.
