Miami Amphitheatre Pizza

carnivalpizza.jpgThis pizza tasted as gross as it looks.  Let’s just start off there!  We went to the Counting Crows amphitheater and got hungry.Since I do not want to start off the New Year by totally ripping a place apart, let’s just say that it failed to meet our minimum requirements of 4 out of 8 slices, and to try it for yourself and see if it is a pizza you would eat again.

From now on in, if a place gets less than 4 slices, we will not give a full review.  This slice of pizza gets 1 out of 8 slices.

Papa Johns Pizza Boca Raton Delivery

Since I was going to a Holiday Party and didn’t really care what pizza place my son decided to order from, I went against my better judgment and ordered him in Papa Johns Pizza.  Although I intended on leaving prior to the pizza coming, I must say I was impressed with the speedy delivery time.  Ordering from their online site was pretty easy but that is all the nice things I could say.

Macaroni Grill Pizza Boca Raton

Ronnie and I went to go meet Eric at the Macaroni Grill the other day.  Normally I get the create your own pasta but on this occasion I ordered the pizza since the last time I was there I forgot to take a picture of it.

I needed the world to understand how disgusting this pizza is.  Do yourself, and your children a favor if you ever eat at a Romano’s Macaroni Grill…STAY AWAY FROM THE PIZZA.  About a year ago I came across an article that mentioned that Macaroni Grill had the lowest calorie pizza out of any similar establishments. Maybe this can describe the lack of taste.

The cheese was ok, but that is where this crappy pizza stops.  The sauce is atrocious, and the dough was not cooked through properly.  The edges were well done and the inside was totally chewy.  I would rather eat Matzoh pizza. Not even the fresh basil tasted right.

I will give the Macaroni Grill pizza in Boca Raton 1 out of 8 slices.  Stick to the pasta dishes when dining here.  You will be much happier.

Gio’s Cafe in Sanford, FL

This is the inaugural review from one of our new Experts MB

I ate at Gio’s Cafe I in Sanford, FL for dinner after reading a positive review about the restaurant in an Orlando Sentinel review. It was a Greek/Italian restaurant which sounded interesting, so I decided to give it a try.

I was actually expecting more Greek food and less Italian. The Greek food probably took up a quarter of the menu, while Italian took up the remaining three-quarters. The Greek food seemed kind of overpriced for what was being offered, so we ordered garlic knots and pizza. The newspaper had good stuff to say about both items, so I was expecting an okay meal.

The garlic knots came out first and were okay, but they could have definitely used triple the amount of garlic that was given.

The pizza soon followed, and I definitely disagreed with the Orlando Sentinel review. The newspaper called Gio’s pizza impressive. I thought it was one of the worst pizzas I’ve eaten in a while. The crust was a little thick for my liking, but that’s just based on my personal preference. My real issue here was with the cheese on the pizza. While the pizza was hot, all of the molten cheese poured off of the crust onto the plate. As it cooled, the cheese solidified, but it didn’t stick to the rest of the pizza. The entire mass of cheese on each slice would pull off leaving a sheet of hot cheese hanging out of my mouth with every bite. The solidified lump of cheese was strangely chewy and dense, and was still stuck in my throat several hours later. I’m not exactly sure what Gio’s Cafe did (or didn’t do) to make the cheese on their pizza turn out this way, but it was definitely not a good thing.

Another issue that I had wasn’t exactly pizza related, but instead was something the restaurant wouldn’t sell me because I ordered pizza. I wanted a side salad as an appetizer, but according to the waiter, side salads were only available if I was eating an entree. Otherwise, my only option would be to buy a much more expensive meal-sized salad. Perhaps I should have ordered an entree though. I’ve found I’m almost always happy with spanakopita, and I’m sure it would have been better than the pizza…

I give Gio’s Pizza in Sanford, Florida, 1 out of 8 Slices

Enoteca San Marco The Venetian Hotel Las Vegas

While I am usually a purist when it comes to toppings, I admit I love a good
clam pie.  That’s what I was thinking when I saw one on the menu of this
Mario Batali Restaurant in Las Vegas.  While I had a reservation, the
restaurant was “hawking menus” to everyone passing by and was very surprised
when I brushed the menu away and insisted I did, in fact, plan on eatingthere.  This was not a very well run restaurant.  Service just seemed
awkward and off.  When I finally got the pizza though, I had to laugh.  Just
LOOK at the picture!  How is someone supposed to eat a pizza with SHELLS on
it.  I folded the slice and jokingly tried to eat it.  I had to pick the
shells out of the hot cheese?  This was completely ridiculous.  Again, look
at the picture.  0 of 8 slices.

The Globe – Downtown Orlando – Worst Pizza

worst the gloveworst pizza

Ok pizza lovers, I have just found a place that for the time being will wear the crown of WORST PIZZA I have eaten recently.  Until another place comes along to overthrow it, The Globe in downtown Orlando has to be some of the most rancid pizza I have eaten.  I was up in Orlando for www.barcamporlando.org and while my family went to Disney World or Universal I was left to eat alone.  In all fairness The Globe does not claim to be a pizzeria, but since it had pizza on the menu it has to be held accountable.   It was so terrible that I actually took one bite and asked the friendly bartender for a to go box since I didn’t have the heart to tell her what I really felt.  Honestly I do not even know where to start, to explain what made it so terrible.  The crust sucked, the sauce was TERRIBLE!  The cheese wasn’t cooked enough…and so on, so on, and so on!  I would have given it to a homeless person, but I did not want to make them suffer!  This place gets 0 out of 8 total slices, since I do not have a negative slice….yet
