Crave America Pizza Orlando, FL

My cousin wanted to meet me while we were in Orlando, and he chose Crave America Restaurant. Crave was busy, and it had a nice hip crowd inside, so I was hoping for the best. Eventually, about 5 minutes after we sat, the server came over to get our drink orders. It took equally as long as them to arrive. My cousin chose the pizza, which seemed quite daring since they aren’t known for their pie, but against all my warnings he chose to get one anyways. Not the smartest choice as he would soon discover.

Buccan Pizza Palm Beach Island, FL

Just like any chic area, Palm Beach Island is not immune to hotspots. Many places open, and are hot for a couple of seasons before faltering at the hands of the picky patrons who usually live in their mansions for about 2 weeks a year. Since many of the residents are just short term stayers, it is hard for a place to make it year round. A new place that has opened up on Palm Beach Island recently named Buccan seems to defy this methodology so far. The place has been packed since opening, and has maintained the crowds waiting to eat there as of my visit. Remember this is off season and the place is jammed.

Went with a few friends the other night, and was pleased to see they offer pizza on the menu. At first glance Buccan in Palm Beach appears as a voguish eatery with certain hint of haughtiness. It kind of reminded me of a place where the middle class who want to appear as high class would go to try to keep up with the Jonses (or in this case, the actual Rockefeller’s, Carnegies and Welch’s). You will also find plenty of gold diggers hanging around with their enormous amount of plastic surgery, hoping to latch onto a billionaire. I could continue on with this, but I am sure you all just want to know if the pizza was any good.

Mai Tardi Pizza in the Miami Design District, Miami, FL

Sometimes I wonder if the Design District of Miami is an example of how the desert will reclaim itself. It has all the makings to be a really cool, chic place, but the elements around it seem to prevent it from growing to its true potential. It has amazing art galleries, easy access to the highways, and some fantastic dining, but yet stores seem to come and go, and numerous restaurants fail within a short period of opening.

Even with all the restaurants that have recently closed, it hasn’t stopped some new innovative ones from giving it a try. One such place is Mai Tardi. Although many seem to get the name wrong, and spell it Mai Tarde, or Mia Tardi, however you find this place will be worth it.

Zio’s Pizza Fort Lauderdale, FL

While driving down Federal Highway last week in Fort Lauderdale, I spotted a pizza place in a corner of a shopping center. It wasn’t the nicest kind of shopping center, which was evident by the presence of Metro PCS store and the like, but sometimes those little places are the best. I pulled into the shopping center and searched my email to see if anyone ever recommend this pizza place named Zio’s. I was surprised when I found about a half dozen emails suggest that I review this place. That was enough of a push to get me in the door of Zio’s Pizza.

Zio’s is one of those miraculous pizza places that let you order your slices from the counter and bring them to your booth yourself. I commend you for this guys. You obviously started out this tasting right, and got me in a good mood. Zio’s Pizza is EXTREMELY clean inside, even with their outdated decor. The kitchen is wide open for anyone to look into, and watch as the food is prepared.

Emilio’s Pizza Commack, NY

Went into Commack the other day, while traveling through Long Island, and met the Mad Greek for some pizza. Since Mad Greek previously thought the pizza at Fanatico Pizza in Jericho, NY was exceptional, we decided to give another family member of the Branchinelli Clan a taste test. It amazes me how different pizza can taste from the same family using the same ingredients. In my opinion, the pizza at Branchinelli’s in Hauppauge has tasted the best. Yes better than Colosseo’s Pizza, and better than Pasta-eria in Plainview. With tastebuds ready, we walked into Emilio’s Pizza in Commack.

When I walked in, I kind of felt like the staff looked at me like I was an idiot (which many people I have met would agree with….I am an idiot sometimes). I asked them where I should sit. Is this a grab a slice and sit down myself place, or do I sit with a server, since there were no signs guiding me either way. We ultimately (reluctantly) decided to go with a server, since we didn’t understand how it would work otherwise. It was something to the affect, if you just get slices you can sit yourself, if you get a salad or a dish you must use a server….blah blah blah.

La Cucina Bar Pizza Smithtown New York

Went with my parents to grab some pasta the other night at La Cucina in Smithtown, NY. While we were waiting for our food, the waitress brought us over the delicious looking bar pizza pie, that you see above, which was supposed to be for take out, but never got picked up. The staff was nice enough to present it to us, and boy am I happy they did, as I am sure after reading this post, they will be equally as happy.

There is a place named Eddie’s Pizza in New Hyde Park which is legendary on Long Island for there amazing crisp, thin crust, bar pizza. For those of you who have had the pleasure of stopping by Eddie’s Pizza, you know precisely what I mean when I describe it as delicious. Honestly, I don’t think I have tried many other bar pies throughout the country that can compete with it. Well La Cucina in Smithtown, Long Island comes pretty close and is worth the try.

Luzzo’s Pizza New York City NYC Best Pizza New York

New York, New York… Its a hell of a town!!! The Bronx is up and the Battery’s down!!! Speaking of down and in, there’s a pizza place worth checking out just off the “L” train stop off 14th and 1st. The place is called Luzzo’s.

Hmmm, where have I heard of this place before? I distinctly remember a Ms. Gabriella from Positano’s dare tell me that Luzzo’s was the best pizza in all of New York City. Well, let’s find out if she was right. Luzzo’s sports an additional namesake of a once famous pizzeria (Una Pizza Napoletana), formerly on 2nd Avenue and 12th Street (now Motorino’s). This downtown East Village scene is like sticking your finger into a wet outlet. It has buzz and excitement all around. It was no different last Thursday when yours truly picked a Plum and hit the charts with a solid 7.

Steve’s Pizza Cooper City, FL

Ever since I can remember, I have always liked pizza. I could seriously have pizza every day, very much the same as Pizza Expert and many of the other reviewers here on WorstPizza. When I moved offices from Plantation to Cooper City, I discovered this little pizza place right next door called Steve’s Pizza. It is a very small place with only 2 tables inside. Most people order their pizzas and pick them up. Steve and her sister moved from New York and opened up their own pizzeria many years ago (not sure how many but it was more than 15 years ago based on the picture they have hanging on the wall).

Boca Grove Country Club Pizza in Boca Raton

Recently flew back down to Boca Raton for a wedding at the Boca Grove Country Club. This is a beautiful area, with some amazing houses spread around a magnificent golf course, that looks like it was recently redone. Prior to the wedding we were invited for dinner at the Country Club restaurant, on what I think was Italian Night, or at least they had a bunch of things that seemed Italian. After making my way past many of the people who were mingling, and about my parents age, I spotted some pizza on a beautiful granite stone. Although I normally try to eat plain slices, they didn’t have any, and I was hungry. Obviously I am not as picky as Pizza Expert when it comes to pizza. Sometimes you gotta try other things, and expand your palette.

Florida Marlins Stadium Pizza in a Suite

There are a couple of people who make me happy that I moved to Florida. One of those select few is Matt’s Pizza, who also reviews on this site. Matt always seems to think of my family and I, as well as many of his closest friends, when he has cool things to do. This time around, Matt graciously invited us to his wife’s birthday party, in a suite he got for the evening at Sun Life Stadium, to watch the Florida Marlins play the Phillies.
