Galleria Pizza Rochester, NY

Right next to the hotel where I was staying in Rochester, NY, was this pizza place named Galleria Pizza. It was located within one the office high-rises throughout downtown Rochester. For some reason, I was completely disheveled during this trip, and forgot half the necessary items needed to keep oneself hygienic. Luckily the office building next to the Rochester Plaza Hotel, had a conienence store located on the bottom, and I was able to grab many of the necessities I needed, so that I remained as beautiful as usual. While exiting the building, I noticed the pizza place, and made a mental note to try it out during my stay. I knew the Rochester Pizza Guy had plenty of other places for me to try, so I figured I would try it out in between sessions at the conference I was at.

The Pizza Stop Rochester, NY

After trying some of the best pizza in Rochester, NY, at Tony D’s Pizza, the Rochester Pizza Guy met me for lunch the following day, and we went to one of his local downtown favorites named The Pizza Stop for a slice or two. This was a perfect opportunity to try some of the local individual pizza slices that downtown Rochester has to offer. As the Rochester Pizza Guy said on his blog post about our encounters:
“Second, Lapp comes at pizza from a different background. He grew up downstate, where excellent pizza is practically a birthright, and world-class pizza isn’t hard to find. And he informs me that South Florida is home to many terrific pizzerias as well, thanks in part to all the New York transplants down there. No knock on Western New York, where I was born and raised, but I think that the sum of my pizza experiences has probably led to my personal pizza bar being set a little lower than Lapp’s. “
I was hoping that this statement wasn’t entirely correct, since Rochester Pizza Guy was spot on about Tony D’s, and it would make no difference where each of us grew up. It was great pizza regardless of geography. So, since he chose this locale, I was really optimistic that this would be an amazing slice.

Tony D’s Pizza Rochester, NY – Best Pizza Rochester

Recently I had the privilege or grabbing a few slices with the Rochester Pizza Guy. He is a pizza reviewer (blogger) that covers most of the Rochester, Buffalo region. He shares the same passion as I do, and that is finding the best pizza around, while helping others avoid getting bad slices of pizza. I knew I could trust him to guide me to the best pizza in Rochester, NY, and boy am I glad I did. Not only did he guide me to Tony D’s Pizza in Rochester, after my close friend Herb texted me the recommendation, but he also came and enjoyed the pizza with me. I will cover some of the other spots he took me to, which weren’t as awesome as Tony D’s, but I figured I would start with the best I had in the city first.

Abeetza Pizza – My New Favorite Pizza in Long Island (From Mad Greek)

Editors Note: We usually never allow reviewers to give out a perfect slice rating, until they have covered dozens of pizza places for us. After speaking with Mad Greek, he managed to convince me that this pizza deserved the 8 out of 8 slice ranking he gave them. I haven’t tried this pizza yet, so I am still not forming an opinion until I try it myself, at which point this rating might change 🙂
Mad Greek here. Congratulations to Joseph DeLorenzo and his staff for making Abeetza Pizza in Greenvale the number one parlor pizzeria on Long Island in my opinion.
So there is no mistake, Abeetza Pizza in Greenvale may be a traditional New York parlor type pizzeria by their size and location, it nevertheless has separated itself from the pack by, among other things, preparing every day, on premise, fresh eclectic and traditional assortments of pizza and other fine italian specialties and salads. The fare at Abeetza Pizza in Greenvale, NY is nothing short of the scale of top notch epicurian style and taste that one would beg of an Iron Chef and any fine italian eatery. Come to think of it, Mr. Eataly himself, Mario Batali, could pick up a pointer or two by checking out Abeetza’s offerings. Just as Lady Ga-Ga. Her name says it all. And she does, going Ga-Ga twice a week for Abeetza Pizza as she jet sets in and out of Teterboro with nearly half of Abeetza’s food on their menu, pizza included.
As for Abeetza’s pizza, it starts with Fresh made whole milk mozzarella twisted every day on premise along with deep kettle cauldrons of several styled traditional and non-traditional sauces for all dishes.

Luciano’s of Chicago Pizza Nassau Bahamas

After trying some of the ridiculously overpriced pizza at The Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island, I told my wife, I am through eating at the hotel. I noticed on the way in, that Nassau had a Luciano’s of Chicago Italian Restaurant near the bridge to Paradise Island, and I figured that would be a safe place to eat at. Even though I knew it was unlikely to find some quality Chicago style pizza in The Bahamas, I know the Luciano’s in Chicago is decent, according to other friends accounts. It seemed like a safe gamble, as it probably couldn’t be worse than the hotel food. I am sorry about the photo above, but since I didn’t have a photo of the pizza, I thought you would enjoy seeing some stingray.
After getting dropped off at the front of Luciano’s we walked down the long driveway and weren’t sure if it was even open. Luciano’s was dead during lunchtime. We walked in and were greeted, and led to a table outside with a magnificent view of The Atlantis. This was a postcard view, just gorgeous. They brought over some bread and we checked out the menu hoping there was some pizza.

Marina Pizzeria Nassau Bahamas – The Atlantis

Had the luxury of visiting the Commonwealth of the Bahamas for a lavish wedding. Not that we discuss weddings here, but I do not think I have been to such a gorgeous location for a day of matrimony before. So of course, while there, I decided go try some of the pizza. Many will think I used the wedding as an excuse to try Bahamian Pizza, and some just might be right 😉
The Atlantis, where we stayed was breathtaking. So many activities to do, and the grounds are just spectacular. I wish the overall experience with the staff was equally as lovely, as it seemed like it was a struggle to get anything done with them. By the way, do not get a bag of Doritos at the store in the lobby of The Atlantis in Paradise Island, unless you intend on spending $10.00

Cafe La Buca Pompano Beach, FL

My buddy Stu kept telling me about a pizza place/Italian Restaurant he ate at, and consistently goes back since it was outrageous. I of course had my suspicions, since Stu is not a reviewer on the site, and I was not entirely sure I could trust his pizza palette. When he offered to treat me to lunch there the other day, I couldn’t resist the chance of putting his Pizza Authority to the test.
Cafe La Buca is located in a shopping center on a side road in Pompano Beach that you would drive by and never think to stop. It looks like it could be falling apart, and I wonder if the landlord realizes how ugly it looks. Throughout a dozen or so years, I am certain I have passed this place several times, but due to the nature of where it was located, I never thought to stop and look.

Delizia Pizza West Palm Beach, FL

Usually we like to bring some food to the hungry folks at the stations of some on-air stuff we do. Normally we would just stop by Wendy’s or Mc Donald’s and order off the $0.99 menu. On this evening, I decided I wanted some pizza (what a surprise) and I googled for the closest place, which turned out to be a place I had never even heard of. The place was called Delizia Pizza and it was located to the north of the Forum building in West Palm Beach.
I called up and ordered a plain pie and asked for directions, since I never even knew there was a decrepit shopping center behind these office towers. When we arrived, we unlocked the doors and ran out, to avoid any drive by bullets that might be flying in the area (I am exaggerating obviously, but always wanted to say that). Obviously this was a little rough of an area as far as I am concerned. The place smelled good inside and the foreign owner who I think could be Moroccan (couldn’t be sure) told me his pizza is the best New York Pizza around. Well, what do you know….another New York Pizza place not located in New York, and not made by someone from New York. Seriously it says it is #1 rated New York Style Slice. Curious to know who rated them this, outside of the owner.

Luigi’s Pizza West Palm Beach – Second Try

On my first try of Luigi’s Pizza in downtown West Palm Beach, I wasn’t overly impressed with the pie they served me. It was inundated with flour, the and the pizza was pretty much average. Was nothing I would go out of the way for. The sauce was the part of the pie I didn’t care for. I knew if Luigi’s Pizza could rework their sauce, and put some TLC in the preparation of their pizza, Luigi’s could make a decent pie. I said I would give Luigi’s in West Palm Beach another chance, and the other day I did.

Naked Pizza 3rd Avenue New York City, NYC

The fall of man can not be confused with the season of fall. One brings failure, the other brings food. Last month the one of a kind “Naked Pizza“, originally from The Naked Capitol of the U.S.A., New Orleans, Louisiana, finally made its way to the corner of 57th Street and Third Avenue in NYC. Thanks to Rich Jacobson and his partners, another such gem will be opening on 14th Street and Third Ave. – East Chelsea which is quickly becoming the pizza capitol of NYC.
