Saturday, to celebrate being named a top ten pizza place in the country, Tucci’s Pizza elected to give out free pizza to anyone who came between 12-4pm. Needless to say it was JAMMED, with hundreds of people at any time throughout the event.
The French Fry Fairy and myself met there, and shot some video together. I love spending time with Beth, she is so much fun and has a laugh that can cheer anyone up.
Since there didn’t appear to be a wait at the Cheesecake Factory the other day (for a change), my wife convinced me to go and eat there. While perusing the menu, I noticed they had something I had never noticed before….Pizette’s. Obviously, I ordered one and figured I would check out if it was worthy.
Although I haven’t reviewed the Cheesecake Factory pizza for a while, from what I recall it wasn’t half bad. It tended to be a little undercooked and runny, but the taste showed they used high quality ingredients. The Pizette was $4.95 so I wasn’t sure how small it would be when it arrived, since $4.95 seems like a low price for food at the Cheesecake Factory.
A new pizza place named Rafi’s Pizza opened up in Boca Raton where Razzo’s was, and before that it was something else, and before that something else, and eventually the string leads to Joe’s NY Pizza which I think started the pizza craze in this location. So far none have succeeded, so another smart business pizza person decided to give it a shot. Some people just don’t do their research.
Excuse the picture for being on its side but it was the best way to show how thick this crust was. Went to Brewzzi’s the other day to meet some friends for lunch. Matt’s Pizza decided to come as well as Martin. Initially I was going to do the pasta dish there but after some peer pressure from Matt, I ultimately decided to get the pizza, since he remembered that one of the higher ups in the organization invited me in to taste it many months ago.
The Brewzzi decision makers even inquired about having a #pizzatweetup at the Boca Raton Brewzzi’s location, but never followed through when I explained to them that we require all pizza to be supplied for free to the attendees.
I have been a big fan of Tomasso’s Pizza in Boca Raton since I moved down here. It is one of the few places you can go order a slice, and actually take it from the counter to your table without the assistance of a server…..imagine the risk. So I am sure I am going to get an incredible amount of slack for posting this review, especially from the locals that have kept Tomasso’s open for over 20 years. I am sure they will all say I do not know what I am talking about, and that I have lost all credibility when it comes to pizza. My readers deserve to know that the slice I had recently at Tomasso’s wasn’t up to par. It was borderline gross.
It would seem logical that after my previous experience at Grande Pizza in Boca Raton, that I wouldn’t even chance going back there. Usually if a place turned me off immediately, I seldom consider giving it that second chance. Second chances should only be granted when there was some potential. Grande Pizza didn’t necessarily show me any potential my first try. So, I wish I could explain what caused me to go back, but I have no comprehendible reason. I guess I just felt like trying this place again, and hoping I could find one or two finer points to discuss, in order to help keep them in business.
Went with my whole extended family the other day to Duffy’s in Boca Raton the other day while they were visiting. Since my sister has quite a few kids, we decided that Duffy’s would be the right choice, considering how noisy it is. In my opinion, given the other choices around the area, Duffy’s is a great choice for the family. The kids can go play the video games, or watch one of the dozens of big screen televisions strategically placed throughout the establishment. And to top it all off Duffy’s has a great VIP rewards card, that makes others seem like a joke. Just make sure they do not order the pizza!
Since I am trying to turn over a new leaf and not cause a place that doesn’t specialize in business to lose any customers over their poor quality of pizza, I will not elaborate too much on what I thought.

Talia’s Tuscan Table in Boca Raton recently won best Italian Restaurant in Palm Beach County from the New Times, and to thank everyone who voted for them, they had a customer appreciation day and offered out free food for anyone who attended. Yes that is right, to show their thanks, they actually let their customers know they are appreciated and offered FREE food. Countless numbers of other places could benefit from being generous like this around South Florida.
I didn’t recall what Talia’s pizza tasted like, since it had been years since I have ventured into this place. The shopping center Talia’s sits in, is pretty gross and initially I stopped going there after the original owner sold Talia’s to someone who ran it into the ground, and I got reports of a rodent problem in the strip mall to top it off.
