Best Pizza I Have Had In Florida

Dec 03 2008 by Walt

Quite possibly the best pizza I've ever had in South Florida. How crazy is that?! South Florida? Of all places... Seriously, with all the north east transplants down here that beat their fists into their chests when expressing pride in their love for the NY/NJ tri-state area you'd figure that one of them could make a decent pizza. Unfortunately that hasn't been the case. In fact, one of my favorite pizza places in Fort Lauderdale actually hails from Pittsburg (Primanti Brothers). However Pimanti Brothers cannot compete with the pizza I had last week. This pizza was almost perfect. The crust was crisp yet delicate.

Pizzeria Vesi Naples Italy

Nov 20 2008 by augie

Margaret and I have dubbed Via Tribunali, a crooked crowded street in centro historico district of Naples, "Pizza Alley". Between the speeding vespas, ancient churches, and begging gypsies, there is some fantastic pizza. There's Di Matteo- a staple among Neapolitans, there's Il Presidente - the spot Bill Clinton went while visiting Naples, and there's, of course, Sorbillo- the favorite pizzeria of italian actress Sophia Loren. Just down the street from  these giants in the pizza world is Vesi, a lesser known but equally deserving pizzeria. After living here for two months, Vesi has easily become one of my most frequented pizzerias in all of Naples. The pizza he

Ristorante Ciro a Mergellina Pizza Naples Italy

Nov 06 2008 by augie

Augie joins us from the saltedespresso Located across from the bay, Ristorante Ciro a Mergellina is stuck between a row of fish vendors and parked vespas. After first glancing at the menu posted, I thought this might be another done-up tourist trap (The menu was, after all, written in English as well as Italian, good English). But after seeing the fast moving, white-jacketed waiters, I began to see a certain old worldly, almost anachronistic charm to Ciro's that I haven't seen in Naples, yet. Finally a place where people could see me for what I truly am; a top-hat wearing, ivory cane twirling gentleman. I lacked the hat and cane, but it was no matter. They gave us a table anyways.  In actuality, the only reason we ended up at Ciro's was because we were completely lost (looking for Neapolitan tombs or something). I saw th

O’Zone Pizza Pub Pensacola Florida

Nov 05 2008 by little miss s

This is the inauguarl post from little miss s. I innocently walked over to O'Zone Pizza to have a salad.  But after remembering that the Monday night special is a half-priced 16 inch-pizza, that salad idea was put on a back burner. First let me describe the space.  O'Zone, as well as a coffee shop, another restaurant and several offices, are located in the old Sacred Heart Hospital.  Built in the Gothic Revival style and opened it the early 20th century, it's a very beautiful building from the outside.  Inside, there are hallways that surround the restaurant that look like one would imagine in an old hospital:  wide and spooky.  In the bathroom, there are remnants of whe

Is It The New York Water That Makes The Pizza So Good

Oct 19 2008 by pizzaexpert

Most people will say that New York has the best pizza. Well in all fairness, New York is known to have the best thin crust and Chicago is known for the best deep dish.  But ask anyone from New York, and that will assure you the best overall comes from New York. Places all over the Boroughs like Brooklyn house some of the best pizzerias in the world, let alone New York City. Most are family owned business that have good old ethics. They both use coal fired brick ovens which they swear is the secret to their smoky crusts. Many of the places even serve Upside Down Sicilian aka Red Sicilian. Some Italian American families have been living in New York City and the surrounding boroughs since their grandparents or great grandparents came over to the United States from Italy. Some of these families took a risk and opened their own pizzerias. Some succeeded and some failed. Most of them however brought their traditions out of the house
