It seems one of the trends we noticed here at the worstpizza offices is that of upscale hotels, bars, and country clubs who have begun serving pizza (or more probably have upgraded their pizza offerings). See as example Boca West. So in that thought process, we recently discovered Battleground Country Club in Manalapan, New Jersey.
Battleground recently invested in a Bari pizza oven, the kind you find in pizzerias all over the New York area. Battleground uses traditional pizza dough, ingredients and techniques to make a pizza that rivals your local pizzeria. The pizza’s themselves are 10’ inch personal pizzas, but are also great for sharing. The Margarita pizza is the most popular, combining all of the classic ingredients: homemade tomato sauce, basil, garlic, fresh mozzarella and finished with extra virgin olive oil. It was delicious, but my son really enjoyed The Bianca, a traditional white pie with mozzarella cheese, ricotta, fresh garlic and extra virgin olive oil.
