Old Style Pizza Boynton Beach Old Style Crap

Sep 30 2008 by Matt's Pizza

Mrs. Pizza and I went to another birthday party with my sons pre-K class.  My favorite thing about going to kids birthday parties is definitely PIZZA!!!  Old Style Pizza was a new one for me, since the party was in Boynton Beach, FL.  I thought Old Style Pizza was an interesting name.  Unfortunately, the pizza was definitely old style.  And not in a good way.  It was like an old style frozen pizza. That’s what the crust reminded me of.  There was nothing pleasant about eating the slice.  The sauce was heavy, as was the cheese.  My first slice had a topping, so I tried the plain slice.  Definitely tasted like frozen pizza.  The crust also tasted stale, giving new meaning to the word “Old” in this joint’s name. My friend Mr. Magorium told me to give the place a break.  It’s not easy to make 20 pies and have them delivered.  He argues that it’s not the same as eating a fresh pie.  But I don’t agree.  This is t

Louie’s Pizza at Halloween Horror Nights Universal Studios Orlando

Sep 29 2008 by MB

As far as theme park food goes, Universal Studios in Orlando, makes good pizza. Most theme park pizza consists of overpriced personal sized pies, that seem to be nothing more than bad frozen pizzas. At Universal Studios, there is a restaurant in the New York section of the park called Louie's Italian Restaurant. Here, they make full sized pies rather than the personal sized pizzas. The taste of the pizza, the willingness of the employees to do special orders on the toppings, as well as the imperfections in the crust lead me to believe that the restaurant employees are actually making the pies fresh in the back instead of just heating up pre-made frozen pizzas, which is a good thing. I visited Universal last Saturday for the second night of Halloween Horror Nights, and while I was there, I had dinner at Louie's. On this visit, I ordered a Garden Vegetable pi

Goodbye Bloomin Newmans or Pizza Express Whatever You Call It

Sep 26 2008 by pizzaexpert

Just drove by Pizza Express which used to be Bloomin' Newman's Pizza in Boca Raton, and realized it has closed.  This must be in part to the awful parking situation there, but I am sure 90% of it had to do with the quality of the pizza they were serving. If you read our review on Bloomin Newmans / Pizza Express in Boca raton (Click Here) you will see I mentioned the review another author from a respected paper gave it. In this review she was saying how it was a Perfect Example of New York style pizza, and I said that there was nothing New York about this place.  This just goes to show that if you advertise in a paper or magazine, they will write up something nice about you.  Pretty much a Pay to Post or review in this case. This is the very reason why you should not pay attention to the reviews that Newspaper reviewers give to a res

Giovanni’s Pizza Boca Raton - Oregano Overload

Sep 26 2008 by Big G

I would like to have a lunch mulligan, or a do-over for today’s lunch.  We headed to Giovanni’s for a deep dish pizza.  I am a NY style guy, but can appreciate the Chicago style from time to time.  I loved my times in Chicago when I had great pies at places like Pizzeria Uno (The Original), Gino’s with the walls that you can write on and the hidden gem Home Run pizza on the South side.  This pizza today was a slap in the face of the greats I just mentioned.  The sauce

Whole Foods Market Boca Raton Better Then Publix Greenwise Pizza

Sep 25 2008 by pizzaexpert

Found myself at Barnes & Nobles the other day looking for a book that was recommended to me called The Starfish and The Spider.  Two stores down in Boca Raton is Whole Foods Market.  I walked over to try to find lunch and my pizza radar led me to the back left section of the store, where I found the pizza oven. Whole Foods has one of these new beautiful ovens set back with a fancy facade.  Their oven looked pretty similar to the one found at that dreaded Publix Greenwise market.  I ordered a couple of slices and sat down to eat them at the store. Although this pizza certainly was a "whole" lot of money, it wasn't worth the price.  Quality wise, I would certainly pick this pizza over the crap they are serving at Publix Greenwise
