While enjoying a visit from my parents for the first time in many years, we ended up on the Hollywood Boardwalk in Hollywood, FL. For those that aren't familiar with where Hollywood is, it is just south of Fort Lauderdale. This area is inundated with French Canadian male snowbirds who love to wear tight bathing suits and show off their bellies. If you think I am being mean, just go down there yourself and you will immediately find I am being kind in that description.

After walking up and down for a while on a beautiful day, I got hungry and of course asked if they wanted some pizza. Never the type of parents to disappoint, they happily agreed and we started looking for the right pizza place on the Hollywood Boardwalk. As we passed by one place in particular called Oasis by the Sea, we were hard pressed by a rather large lady who told us it is the best pizza on the boardwalk and one of the only places that doesn't freeze their dough. I asked if she would guarantee me it was the best and she said it easily was the best. Never one to not accept a pizza challenge, we headed into Oasis by the Sea.

Oasis of the Sea had the same pizza pie special and pitcher of soda. Nothing much was actually different between this pizza place and the others on the boardwalk when it came to price or decor. Pretty bare bones inside.

We ordered a plain pie and sat waiting for it while listening to the customers around us complain about the prices and the fact the pizza special was only for a plain pie etc. The one complaint I had personally was how tight the seating was. Every time the person behind me took a breath in I could feel it move my chair since they were back to back and we both were kind of thin.

Our pie arrived at the table rather quickly, and I was immediately impressed with the size of it. The pie was XL and was very thin and crisp. This looked like the perfect pizza since I was hungry and actually in the mood for thin and crisp. As I lifted the first slice I was quite disappointed with the amount of flour they had on the bottom. For those escaping from the Northern snowstorms, you might feel it is snowing again once you lift up their pie.

The sauce was almost non existent on this pizza pie, although I didn't really mind since I am not much of a sauce lover. The cheese tasted good but not great in my personal opinion. The crust had too much flour on it to really appreciate the taste, but what I tasted wasn't half bad. It is safe to say this pizza was far better than others on the boardwalk like Florios, at least in my opinion.

Well so far the big lady outside grabbing people into the restaurant was right. This was one of the better pizzas I have had on the boardwalk in Hollywood, FL. The owner was an older greek man and seemed to be appreciative of the business he had and that further added to the allure.
