We passed by Luigi's Pizzeria in East Setauket while were going to see a town I had never heard of before after living in Long Island for decades named Strong's Neck. Along the way I got hungry and saw it located in a shopping center at the stop light we were stuck at. We pulled in to see if this pizza was any good.

Luigi's Pizza was clean and nice inside. After walking past several booths I arrived at the pizza counter which had a nice variety of pies behind the glass enclosure. A not so friendly young man asked me what I wanted and I ended up ordering a regular slice and a Sicilian slice. I wanted garlic knots too but I didn't see them displayed. This is a weird way to try to sell people on items. Hiding your knots doesn't make customers crave them when they see them. Luigi's takes the hidden approach to their food I guess.

Immediately upon ordering the kid couldn't wait to charge me and get the money out of my hands. It was like he was charging me before I was even done ordering. I didn't care for this at all. After giving him the money, I asked if I can also have 6 garlic knots. This seemed to annoy him, but he quickly grabbed the money from me as well.

The Sicilian slice was $2.95 and the regular was $2.65. Florida has make me used to paying these high prices for slices, but I kind of expected Luigi's Pizza in Setauket to be a bit cheaper. When the slices came out I bit into the Sicilian first. It didn't possess too much taste, but it had a nice crisp crust. The pizza maker definitely knew how to make the dough properly here. The cheese was average, and I do not think it was that expensive of a blend. The sauce was good, and it wasn't applied heavily which is what I like.

The regular slice was crisp and held up nicely. The cheese (although it was the same kind as the Sicilian) tasted better on top of this thin crust. The sauce was applied perfectly under the generous amount of cheese. If I go back to Luigi's Pizza in East Setauket, I will probably stick with the regular slice.

Luigi's Pizza in East Setauket gets 4 out of 8 slices.
