Grande Pizza Boca Raton Detroit Style Slice
Slice Rating
:
Detroit-style pizza is a style of pizza, developed in Detroit. It is a square pizza similar to Sicilian-style pizza that has a thick deep-dish crust, cooked toppings such as pepperoni and olives, and is served with the marinara pizza sauce on the top of the pizza. It is known within Detroit as Square pizza.
The crust of a Detroit-style pizza is noteworthy because in addition to occasionally being twice-baked, it is usually baked to a chewy medium-well-done state, and many parlors will apply melted butter with a soft brush prior to baking
Grande Pizza is one of the few places in the area that makes pizza in this unique fashion. Augy's Pizza is the other place in town that does pizza like this.
Michiganians who live down here will rejoice in the quality of this pie. I have been to Buddy's Pizza in Detroit and can assure you, this is as close as it gets down here. So if you are homesick, you must try Grande out. If you are curious to see what the difference is between Detroit Style Pizza and regular Pizza have no fear, you can get both at Grande.
The sweet sauce Grande uses tastes amazing on top of the fresh Grande Mozzarella Cheese they use here. Although not associated with the Grande Cheese brand, Grande Pizza exclusively uses their cheeses. Normally, I am not one to eat the edges or corners of a Sicilian pie, but when it comes to Grande Pizza, those are the slices I grab first. The edges almost flake in your mouth when you bite them. As a matter of fact, we tend to argue who gets the corners, and usually have to flip for it.
If you go to Grande Pizza in Boca Raton, please let me know what you think about this Pizza. So far, everyone I have sent to try this style Pizza has loved it, and I think you will make this place one of your regulars once you see what I mean.
