Buca Di Beppo Wellington, FL
Slice Rating
I was pretty upset when the Buca Di Beppo closed in Fort Lauderdale, it used to be one of my favorite places to go and pig out at. The management there was exceptional, and it just always seemed like a comfortable place to go and enjoy some pasta. There was another Buca Di Beppo in Wellington, FL that opened a few years ago, that used to be great, but when the woman running the place Becky (I think was her name) left, it seemed to go down the tubes in my opinion, and I stopped going there, since the food came out wrong several times.
When I was visiting a friend in nearby Lake Worth (way out west), we decided to go take the families and eat, and Buca Di Beppo in Wellington seemed like a great choice, especially since he had a coupon. So we headed over there and waited for about 20 minutes, until we were seated. The best part about any Buca Di Beppo is the ability to sit in the kitchen, and if you haven't tried it yet, it is worth the experience. You get to see all the food being made, and the staff shows you the dishes and explains them before they head out to the tables to be served.
Usually I get the pasta at Buca Di Beppo, but on this night we all decided to split a pizza. We ordered the pizza plain, and it came out relatively quickly. Although the photo above is a little blurry, the pie was presented nicely, and cut into squares. It was pretty big and ended up feeding all of the members at the table (7) and then some.
Although the edges had a bit too much flour for my liking, the pizza was nice and thin, and held up when lifted off the tray without sagging. The cheese was decent, and the sauce was just ok. The sauce was probably the thing I liked least about this pizza, since it had some little chucks and a minor aftertaste of some vinegar.
In my opinion, Buca Di Beppo isn't worth going to just for a pizza, but if you want something that comes out fast and can feed a bunch of hungry kids, it might be a good choice to order before your meal.
Buca Di Beppo in Wellington gets 4 out of 8 slices.
