Umberto’s West Boca Raton Pizza

Living in West Boca, there are plenty of places to get pizza but the amount of places that offer quality pizza are pretty slim. I was glad when worstpizza.com introduced me to Umberto’s. It has actually become one of my favorite places to eat pizza.

I’ve tried a few different pizzas at Umberto’s but my favorite pizza by far is their Grandma Pie. I have eaten this pizza more times then I would like to admit. After a long day of work, I love picking up a Grandma Pie from Umberto’s on my way home. The crust is perfectly cooked. The edges are crispy but not rock hard. The cheese is always fresh and delicious.

As an Italian who is not a huge fan of tomato sauce, the sauce is excellent. It is slightly bitter. The pizza is made with fresh garlic and is so good. When thinking of ways to try and describe the flavor of this pizza, the term big comes to mind. It is a big tasting pizza, full of strong flavors. Just like an Italian grandmother, this pizza isn't taking any crap from anyone.

I have eaten this pizza hot, out of the oven. I have also eaten it cooled to room temperature and re-heated in both the conventional oven and the microwave. I have had it with ricotta cheese added and with various toppings. This pizza is delicious no matter how you slice it.

Umberto’s is one of my favorite non-coal fire pizza places in South Florida. I usually order pizza at night and the night pizza guy does an exceptional job. I have also had this pizza during the day and I have to admit, it is inconsistent during the day as I have experienced various degrees of overcooked and undercooked crust. If I didn't ever ate there during the day I would have scored them higher but all in all, I think Umberto’s deserves a robust 6 out of 8 slices.
