Steve’s Pizza Best Pizza North Miami
Slice Rating
Steve's Pizza is legendary in North Miami / Aventura. This was one of the first places I tried down in Florida when I moved here. A friend of mine told me that Steve's even used to taste better before I moved here, but I find that hard to believe. During my first visit to Steve's Pizza, I remember thinking to myself that Florida pizza wasn't so bad, and that perhaps I wouldn't grow to miss the New York pizza I grew up eating. Obviously Steve's in an anomaly when it comes to this.
We were at a party down the block the other day, when I realized the host didn't have anything I would eat, so I suggested I go get a pizza, which the kids cheered enthusiastically for! I pulled up the number to Steve's, located at 12101 Biscayne Blvd North Miami (305) 891-0202 on my iPhone and proceeded to place the order for 2 large pies. Steve's large pies, are actually quite large. Certainly larger then some of the 16 inch pies some of the other local places around town try to get away with. If you read me regularly, you know that I do not like to order pizza in, or picking it up, since it loses some taste in that cardboard box that most places put the pizza in. After trying my first bite of this pizza, I was in awe. After traveling in my car to our location, and shifting around, while steaming in a cardboard box, this pizza still managed to still taste great. If eating a take out pie could be this good, you can only imagine how fantastic the regular pizza tastes in your seat eating in Steve's.
The pizza at Steve's is New York style (although I try to refrain from using that term). It is stretched thin, with an incredible sweet sauce. Steve's Pizza quite possibly could have some of the better tasting sauce in all of South Florida. The cheese is applied generously and has the perfect amount of cheese:sauce. If you go into Steve's and watch your pizza being made, you will see that the guys behind the counter are seasoned in the art of making a pie. And considering the amount of pizzas that Steve's goes through daily, they are probably one of the busiest pizza guys out there.
Eating at Steve's is not fine dining. As a matter of fact, the dining area is pretty gross, and seldom cleaned. It is usually pretty hot in there, and if there is a line, you can expect to wait a while to eat your slice as it gets cold. If you are lucky enough to get a seat during peak hours, you will be able to savor the quality that this pizza possesses. They even have some old run down video games, that I am shocked still work, for the kids. Parking can also be an issue at Steve's, but you might be able to find a spot across the street at the Home Depot.
If you are in the area, I highly recommend grabbing a slice at Steve's and eating it in. Please let me know your experience in the comments below.
