itsnotthewater.jpgdomandlouies.jpgAlthough Dom & Louie's Pizza in Lake Worth, isn't exactly in a shopping center where you would normally expect to find a Pizza place, if you pass this place by and don't try it, you are foolish.  Their slogan is "It's Not The Water" indicating that you don't need New York Water to make a good slice.  Time to put their slice to the test to see if this is true.

Jerry the owner of Dom & Louie's used to own Romano's in Boca Raton.  After finding this out, I was a bit hesitant to try this place, since I never cared for the sauce at Romano's.  After one of our reviewers went there, and came back bragging about it, I had to work my way over there and check it out for myself.

Upon walking into Dom & Louie's I was immediately brought back to a place I remember from Long Island.  No servers, booths everywhere, and a counter with pizza.  Imagine that guys??  You can just walk in and grab a slice and seat yourself.  Yup, nobody has to walk you to your booth, and you don't have to wait for someone to grab your slice from the counter, that is probably within arms reach.  You simply walk up to the counter and tell them what you want, and they place it on the counter when it is ready.  Could you imagine the simplicity.  Ahhhh the good old days.

I ordered a regular slice and struck up a conversation with "Jerry" who was extremely hesitant to tell me who he was.  Maybe he is in the witness protection program and I struck a nerve.  I explained that I received an email from a "Jerry" and just wanted to say hello, since it went a long way with me that they believed in their pizza enough to personally invite us in for a try.  Eventually Jerry put down his guard and we began a lengthy conversation.  I was overwhelmed with Jerry's love and knowledge of pizza.  If there was a tattooed, seriously Italian, 5 borough version of me, I think I found him.

This pizza tasted excellent.  The crust was beyond crispy, and held up beautifully as I lifted it from the plate.  The cheese tasted delicious and was perfectly baked.  If there was something I could change, it would definitely be the chunks of tomatoes in the sauce.  I had to take a bit of the sauce off, since it was a little overbearing.  It tasted great, don't get me wrong, but I would like to see it smoother, and a little less of it.  There was a bit more sauce then cheese on my slice.  One thing is certain, when it comes to Dom & Louie's, it has actually nothing to do with the water.  They prove you can make good pizza in South Florida.
