I have passed by At's a Pizza in Fort Lauderdale dozens of times while driving back and forth on Las Olas Blvd, and only went in once, like ten years ago after I moved here. I never went back, because it just didn't taste good, and I was on a hunt to actually find the places that didn't suck after experiencing some horrific pizza places in Boca Raton. Well the time came that Andy and Willie asked to go eat there one day for lunch, and I obliged.

The inside of At's a Pizza in Fort Lauderdale on Las Olas Blvd. didn't look like it had changed in the last decade. The only difference were the signs saying that they now had gluten free pizza, which I think was great, since so many people get excluded from pizza because of dietary issues. We ordered some slices and began our wait. I began to notice how empty the place was, and thought that it might have something to do with it being 1pm, but that doesn't seem like an off hour. Oh well, maybe they do a strong dinner.

When my slice arrived, it looked pretty presentable. It was a nice sized slice, and the cheese looks yummy. When I picked up the slice, it almost gave way and fell apart. It is weird for a reheated pie to fall apart like this. The bottom was completely soggy, and I needed my whole hand to hold it up, just to get a bit into my mouth. We actually almost had to resort to knives and forks, just to try to taste this slice. My first bite wasn't anything special. The sauce tasted pretty cheap, and without proper flavoring. The Crust was decent in taste, but not very positive in consistency. The cheese was definitely the best part of this slice. It was cooked right, tasted right, and melted just right.

I am not sure I would go out of my way to try At's a Pizza in Fort Lauderdale again, but I gotta tell you....the place has stayed opened for many years, which is an excellent sign that they are doing something right. I have a feeling this was just a lousy second visit, and that a third might be in order. At's a Pizza is located at the deader end of Las Olas, and yet manages to stay around. This has to clue you into the fact that they make pizza excellently sometimes. If I am down those ways again, I will be sure to stop in and hope for the best.

At's a Pizza on Las Olas Blvd. in Ft. Lauderdale gets 4 out of 8 slices for this visit. I have heard their Gluten Free is one of the better tasting pies around, so I suggest anyone who needs Gluten Free Pizza checks them out.
