Pizza and technology often make for the perfect team! While driving just outside of Washington DC this weekend, I googled, “Best Pizza in Silver Spring” and noticed that just about every link took me to “Pacci’s Neapoliton Pizzeria”. Using my handy dandy phone GPS, I quickly pulled up to what would become one of my new favorite pizzerias! Within minutes, technology had led me to a place known to have great pizza and even recommended what to order! If my father even knew how to work these devices, he’d be so proud of this moment.
You can’t help but notice the beautiful wood fired brick oven that stands directly in front of the entrance. This narrow but trendily decorated restaurant is adorned with nice wine racks and smells like a slice of heaven. Two nice patios adorned with palm trees feed off of this main brick and yellow painted dining room.
I knew Pacci’s Pizza would be big time after learning that the owner spends his days as GM of “Mrs K’s Tollhouse” which is well known throughout this region for its quality food and service. He apparently named the place after a combination of his two children’s names, Pavlos and Cicis. As our delicious pizzas arrived, it was obvious that this place knew what they were doing. The crust was light and chewy with a slight char. Our first 12 inch personal pie had traditional San Marzano Tomatoes and buffalo mozzarella perfectly proportioned on this caputo flour crust from their 900 degree oven. The crust and sauce were right up there with some of the best in the region. Our second pie was a white pizza covered in vegetables. It was also nicely done although I enjoyed the red sauce so much that I missed it on this second pie.
Amazingly, their dessert pizza was the best part of our meal! The “Nutteloco” is a true masterpiece! This delight begins with one of their perfectly crusted pizzas covered in chocolate nuttela and then covered in sweet fresh strawberries and powdered sugar.
Thanks to technology and this great pizza coming together, the world will never again have to have a bad slice of pizza! I only hope this review can lead others to also find this treasure.
