Mama Theresa’s is one of those pizza places that doesn’t seem to dilute the quality with each place it opens up. Having places in Garden City Park, Westbury, and East Meadow, Mama Theresa’s pizza is worth a stop depending on where you are located. My associate took me there the other day when I was traveling through Long Island, insisting it was some of the best Sicilian around the area. I knew this would be hard to prove since places like Raimo’s and Umberto’s really make some of the best Sicilian in the area. Since we all know I am never one to say no to a slice, I went with him and tried to keep an open mind.
Mama Theresa’s Pizza is one of those Long Island type pizza joints that has a pizzeria in the front, and a dinning room in the back. Yup, they allow you to take your own slices to the tables if you want to. I know I have been on an extreme rampage recently when it comes to these dumb Florida places that have waitress service for slices, but I just cannot get it out of my head….it is so darn stupid.
We ordered a Sicilian pie and when it came to the table it looked just marvelous. It was reminiscent of Umberto’s Sicilian pie, and had this amazing aroma. I couldn’t wait to dig in. My first bite was awesome. The bottom crust was crispy, and not burnt. The dough was super moist and soft. The smooth and sweet sauce was applied perfectly to the ratio of the top quality mozzarella cheese they are using here. All and all this slice was great and I certainly recommend Mama Theresa’s Pizza to anyone who hasn’t tried it yet.
Mama Theresa’s in Westbury gets 7 out of 8 slices for this location.
