Description

Just got this email across my desk from a loyal reader. I couldn’t understand why I was getting dozens of comments on a post I did about Steve’s Wood Fired Pizza back in February of 2009. Now I know why. You see the owner of Steve’s finally took time away from trying to attack those that don’t like his place on the comment board here, and instead decided to do something proactive over one year and a half later. Check out the email he sent to his mailing list:

WELL DONE STEVE!

I commend his efforts to try to remove the obnoxious things he and his staff said on the comment board of the original post. This is probably one of the most effective ways to help his online reputation. It is called suppression, and allows people to only display the things you want your prospective patrons to read. We used to really like Steve’s Pizza in Boca Raton. If he would lower the prices a bit, he would get my business back for another try and review. Steve, contact me and we would even have a www.pizzatweetup.com there to let pizza lovers from South Florida decide if they like it as well.

There are a couple of things that annoy me about his email though.

1. If people leave a bad review, and tell their real feelings, do they still get the $10.00 off?

2. He says “Minimum purchase required” but fails to mention what the minimum is?  Do you have to spend $75.00 (which you easily could based upon his prices for tiny pies) in order to get $10.00 off? Make sure you question this before you order your food guys!

Thanks for the traffic to my site Steve!

Actually, it says $10 off of a $10 order…which means you get your small soup and a soda for FREE!!!

I actually used to really like Steve’s until I saw all of the horrible comments he and someone from his staff left on this site. That just showed a major lack of class in my opinion. There is no reason to take things like a negative review to such a personal level…

Great pizza and terrific personnel and service at Tucci’s. That is one wonderful place to enjoy pizza, and we drive from Boynton Beach to eat it.

Awesome Awesome pizza! We have never had a bad meal there and truly enjoy the Steve’s dining experience. Steve’s is an intimate dining experience that my family and I look forward to.

Let me get this straight… you’d like Steve’s pizza if it were cheaper? So you’re shopping for price, not flavor? When has a steak at Morton’s cost less than Outback?… never. Does that mean you like the steak at Outback better? If I offered to open a bottle of Opus One for you… or a bottle of Riuniti… which would you prefer. Before you answer, remember, the Riuniti is considerably cheaper.

My point, sometimes things that are better, cost more. I don’t know why Steve’s pizza costs slightly more (I don’t even know that it does… I’m going on your premise)… but it is good! Thin, crispy crust… a slight smokeyness from the wood fire. The toppings are fresh and inventive… vodka cream sauce… what?… delicious. Also, the service I’ve received has been friendly and attentive… I’ve been made to feel like I’m dining at a friend’s house. At one point, some guy came by and asked me what I was drinking. I told him Pinot Grigio and he came back and filled my glass… gratis. I later found out the guy was Steve himself.

In this world (especially South Florida) of chain restaurants filled with frozen, prepared food and staff who don’t care to know your name, Steve’s is a welcome oasis.

If I were you, I’d give them another try anyway… regardless of how many extra pennies you have to pay per slice.

One of the best crusts. Toppings great too. Nice ambience to go with a fine pizza.

This is unbelievable. Steve has to pay people to post comments. OK, Steve, here’a a comment. Your pies are minuscule. For the same money, I get a huge pie at Ninos which tastes great or a 12″ at Anthony’s or Sicilian oven which is made to my specification. Your sauce is bland, although I must say the crust is good. It’s just insanely overpriced considering how tiny your pizzas are. Good pizza places do not have to pay people to leave comments.

It doesn’t cost more. He just wants more of your money in his pocket. The profit margin on pizza is huge. Try some of the better places such as Sicilian Oven and you will see the difference. Steve’s is nothing but an overpriced rip off IMO.
    His portions are child size

I love taking advatage of this offer because I love the pizza there. There is something about that wood fire that gives the pizza a great taste and the gourmet beef topping is excellent. It’s a bit of a drive for me, but it’s worth it.

Everything on the menu is overpriced. I thought the crust was good as was the smokiness but the sauce bland. There are better places that are not so overpriced. I won’t be going back

This is the best Pizza ever and I’m from the midwest where we have great pizza but steve’s woodburn pizza is tops. It’s the first restaurant we go to when we come to Boca.
