Talia’s Tuscan Table in Boca Raton recently won best Italian Restaurant in Palm Beach County from the New Times, and to thank everyone who voted for them, they had a customer appreciation day and offered out free food for anyone who attended. Yes that is right, to show their thanks, they actually let their customers know they are appreciated and offered FREE food. Countless numbers of other places could benefit from being generous like this around South Florida.
I didn’t recall what Talia’s pizza tasted like, since it had been years since I have ventured into this place. The shopping center Talia’s sits in, is pretty gross and initially I stopped going there after the original owner sold Talia’s to someone who ran it into the ground, and I got reports of a rodent problem in the strip mall to top it off.
My friend runs their social marketing department and has bragged time and time again about how great the pizza was, so I thought it would be nice to go visit him while it was free and give it a try. When I walked in, he ordered up a plain (since the owner loves to put pesto on everything) personal pie which comes on whole wheat crust. When the pie came out and was placed in front of me, I had to fend off many of the other freeloaders like myself who thought this pie was for general population.
My first bite was great. This incredibly thin crusted pizza is made with the finest ingredients and it shows. San Marzano imported plum tomatoes packed in basil, Imported Romano grated cheese, Grande Mozzarella..seasoned w/extra virgin olive oil, dried oregano leaf and fresh minced garlic. The sauce was a bit too spicy for me, and I ended up moving most of it to the side, but that didn’t matter, since the taste of it still was better then 75% of the other sauces out there.
This isn’t your regular type of place to go to for pizza. The owner is a bit loud, and harsh at times, but it just adds to the overall ambiance of the place. I would definitely go back there, and I suggest everyone else around the area gives Talia’s individual pies a try. If you stopped going there like I did many years ago, it appears safe to try again!
Talia’s Tuscan Table gets 6 out of 8 slices.
