I was told that Palace Pizza has the best pizza in Lakeland. Apparently, this place normally has a huge variety of pizzas available by the slice, and these specialty slices are the thing to get here. The night I visited, there wasn’t much left behind the counter and whatever was there looked like it was sitting out far too long. So instead, we ordered a freshly made cheese pizza.
I wasn’t impressed. Everything was very heavy handed on this pizza. Thick crust, too much sauce, and far too much cheese.
I know there are some people out there that love this cheese overload on a pizza, but not me. When the hot cheese pours off of the slice onto the plate, that means there is too much! There was so much sauce and cheese that by the time I got to my second slice, all crispness was gone from the thick crust and had become limp and waterlogged. This definitely not the NY Style pizza I was expecting after what I had heard about this place. While this wasn’t the worst pizza I’ve had, it was far from being the best…
Next time I’m in Lakeland, maybe I’ll return to give this place another try. Hopefully next time I’ll get there when they still have a good selection of pizza by the slice so I can see if Palace Pizza’s specialty slices are indeed better than their cheese pies. After my pizza though, I’m not expecting much.

I'm born and raised in New York (30 years) and compared to the other crappy pizza joints in Polk County, Palace has the best pizza. They make the best sauce and the crust is just as crispy as back home. Yeah maybe you need to try it again, this time don't be drunk.
that is only one of there locations they have several others you should try that location has let their quality slip since they started to be managed by the younger generation of the family
I am the owner of Palace Pizza downtown and I can say this, we have been here 12 years now and I see over 500-600 customers every day and no one has ever posted or said anything bad about our pizza or anything else wen serve…Just remember people most of the stuff that you see on the Internet could very well be the competition trying to make us look bad… If any of you that posted on here has a problem with my product or my employees you are more than welcome to come see me in person ,my name is Sal.. especially to the guy name John that of course has no idea what this family business is really about.. Me and my brother have been running this location for the past 11 years and have build more customer relationship than any of the other locations… So before you get on the Internet and post non sense do your self a favor and come meet me in person.
