Joe Jamz Pizza Hollywood Florida
August 14th, 2009 - By: mallory
After hearing good things about Joe Jamz Pizza in Hollywood from my sister and one of my editors at work, my dad, other sister and I decided to order in and try it out. I should have known from Pizza Expert that this was probably a mistake on our part, seeing as how the pizza definitely changes from sitting in the box for half an hour in the delivery car before it arrived to our door. It’s safe to say that I don’t think this pie would have tasted much better fresh in the restaurant either.
The pie arrived on time, 35 minutes just like they said, half-cheese, half-pepperoni. Our expectations were slightly higher because of the good reviews online, but we were disappointed. The entire box was soaked with grease and the doughy crust was too chewy underneath and undercooked. The sauce (and I’m a sauce girl) was way too sweet to the point where that’s basically all we could taste. And the grease. Did I mention it was greasy? Like grease-stream-running-down-the-back-of-your-hand greasy? I don’t enjoy that and neither did the family. All in all there was nothing memorable about Joe Jamz, not even the garlic rolls that we hoped would redeem the mediocre quality of the pizza, which turned out to be insanely dense and doughy, too hard to chew and again, dripping with grease and oil. 4/8 slices.

See mal, the pizzaexpert is always right!
If this critic thinks Mauro's has the best pizza, then it explains why they didn't like Joe Jamz. Mauro is for the drunks that need something to keep the alcohol down while Joe Jamz is for those who really enjoy and know what a good pizza should taste like
have you ever baked pizza.have you ever made pizza dough, have you ever worked in a pizza place, what makes you an authority, what are you comparing it to, where else have you eaten pizza from in south florida,
My reviews are based solely on my opinion and only on the specific instance of eating there to review their pizza. I've had great pizza at Luce, but the time I went for a review, it was far less than stellar. I never try to discourage anyone from not trying these places themselves. You'll like what I don't and I'll like what you don't. Isn't that the nature of all food reviews?
You obviously don't like a sweet sauce but did you try their Margaretta pizza? My cousin who is like you and doesn't like the sauce sweet, had it and said that night he was dreaming about it. I think you should try it, it seems that you would love it as well.
Keep your eyes peeled for Joe Jamz, episode 2 where I'll try out their Margaretta variety. Eager to give this local biz a second try.
whhy would you give directions to the place after giving a review about it?

I ate pizza at joe jamz and frankly thought it was awesome! If you like Brooklyn style pizza with a thin crust, sweet sauce, great cheeese, and fresh toppings then I would highly recommend this place and would give it a 5/5 for hollywood! I will definately come back.
That's strange. Everyone I have turned onto this pizza loves it. Yes the sauce is on the sweet side, which everyone I introduced the pizza to likes and it's what draws alot of customers to this place. I have never had a problem with it being overly greasy and the rolls are always garlicky goodness.
We had it for the first time last night and it was horrible!!! Mauro's is the best in Hollywood!!! Hands down!!!!
Doesn't looks good to me
Ok been living in Hollywood for 5 years been meaning to try joe Jamz but have never seen more then 2 cars in their parking lot. Saw that they are #1 readers poll 30 (people) in New times best of 2010 then saw this review and went for the lunch special.
I was the only one in the place friday afternoon @ 12:15 for the lunch special 2 slices and drink for $5.
Nice sized slices decent cheese wayyyyy too much sauce slice flopped over and could not hold shape.
Did not like the sauce either….. too much oregano and something else i could not place….. not quite as bad but reminiscent of the sauce on the pizza you sometimes get in the Spanish neighborhoods of NYC. guess that makes it authentic NYC pizza just not good NYC Pizza
My dad thinks the sauce is to sweet and i agree its a little greasy..but it's by no means disgusting..I happen to like it..but eh.. try it yourself before you discount it..Its really not that bad
