Ciro’s Pizza is located next to one of my favorite Bagel Shops in Smithtown, Long Island. 546 Smithtown Bypass 631.724.5745. I have never thought to go into this place, since usually when I pull into the shopping center, I go to get bagels and then I am too full.
This time around we decided to skip the bagels and try the pizza.
Nothing fancy about Ciro’s Pizza in Smithtown. You walk in and head to the counter and order a slice from a kind of unfriendly guy, just the way I like it! When I laid eyes on the Sicilian (or as my friend Allen corrects me in saying SQUARE SLICE), I instantly thought it reminded me of Rocco’s Pizza (which I loved) or Umberto’s Pizza of New Hyde Park (which I also love). Not sure I even looked at the regular slice after seeing that they had Sicilian the way I like it.
When the slice came out of the oven it didn’t appear to be too hot, and when I bit into it, this hunch was further confirmed. But it didn’t matter, this pizza tasted great. I am quite surprised that Ciro’s hasn’t won any local awards or received more publicity. It will be hard for me to go to Ciro’s since when I am out visiting family, I prefer to go to Rocco’s, but next time I am getting bagels, I will make sure to stop in and grab another Siclian slice.
The sauces was perfectly sweet and smooth, the cheese was awesome, and the crust was next to perfect. Only thing that could have been better for me is the amount of time this slice reheated in the oven. It was obviously taken out too quickly. Next time I will ask for it to be extra hot to make sure.
If you live around the Smithtown/Hauppauge area and haven’t tried this little place, you are missing out on some pretty good pizza. Go in and try it for yourself and leave me some comments if you agree.
Ciro’s Pizza in Smithtown gets 6 out of 8 slices.
P.S., this could very well be the WORST website of all the pizza places I have seen recently. Ciro’s you must change your design. Contact me and I will help you!!
