Had a friend visiting from NYC the other night and thought it would be fun to take him to Vic & Angelo’s Pizza in Delray Beach. After discovering there was a two hour wait, we tried Louie Louies Pizza on Atlantic Avenue as well, but they too had a small wait. We continued to wander down the street checking place to place until we found 32 East.
They surprisingly had no wait time, so we sat down. 32 East is located on 32 East Atlantic Ave in Delray Beach Florida. 561.276.7868. 32 East isn’t well known for their pizza as much as their regular entrees but since it was on the menu, I needed to order it.
We were seated in the back by the kitchen and began our wait for someone to take our drink order. About 15 minutes later a rather frazzled woman appeared at the table and asked us what we were drinking. I order my usual Coke, and when my wife asked her about the wine, the waitress seemed to be annoyed that she actually had to answer a question. Excuse us for sitting around for 15 minutes so that you could spend 15 seconds with us and get annoyed. As you can see, this wasn’t a good start.
I ordered a plain pizza. Not only did I mention plain to her but I specified that I do not want any basil on the pizza. As you can see by the photos above, the moronic server managed to give me anything but a basil-less pizza. As a matter of fact, this pizza had almost as much basil on it as it did cheese.
After picking off the basil piece by piece, I started to eat the pizza. My advice to anyone planning on eating at 32 East….DO NOT ORDER THE PIZZA. It sucked in my opinion. Honestly, it might have tasted better if our bitchy waitress wasn’t such an ass, or if she actually listened to how I ordered it. At $15 bucks, this is no bargain for a pie the size of a kiddie pie at most places. Shame that a place that seemed so chic inside, and possessed potential, ended up being one big disappointment due to a rude, inattentive staff. If you read their website at 32east.com you will notice that they mention “fantastic food, sophisticated interior design.” They should change it to, “fantastic food (except pizza), sophisticated interior design, and incompetent staff.”
Cheap crust, cheap cheese, terrible tasting sauce.
32 East gets 1 out of 8 slices for their pizza, and would get negative scores for our waitress. On a side note, my wife thought the mahi mahi was one of the best she had. Shame I won’t be going back with her any time soon to let her enjoy it again.
