My mother is Orthodox & keeps kosher (I don’t) & orders from Jon’s constantly. She’s ordering it as I type. It’s terrible but every kosher pizza I’ve had tastes the same. It’s all super oily, limp crusted blech.

Kosher pizza can and should be as good as non kosher. A crust made from scratch with kosher ingredients is exactly the same as crust made from scratch with non kosher ingredients(guaranteed Most regular pizza places use flour that is certified kosher). The same for the sauce(fresh garlic, olive oil, san marzano tomatoes,oregano,ALL kosher).The catch is the cheese,however there are very high quality kosher cheese(as good as non kosher). Jon doesn’t use quality anything, he uses the cheapest of everything. He doesn’t even use all mozzerella cheese, he mixes it with muenster.

Being from NYC, living in Florida for 20 years and eating pizza for 47 years, discovering Jon’s Place has been a blessing, from the sauce to the crust by far the best pizza in south Fla, Kosher or not Kosher, a must eat for any pizza lover, a wide selection with a very accommodating service staff, including the owner Jon whom made us feel like we were guests in his own house.

Found this while looking to see if Jon’s place had a website. LMAO. As someone who spent the first half of their life eating non-kosher, I can say absolutely that yes, Jon’s place is horrible! I think it’s the lack of any competition. I keep praying that someone will open a competing store in the area which will either drive him out of business, or force him to up his game. It seems to me that a lot of Kosher places just don’t bother trying because hey, where else are you going to eat? (Case in point, Lower East Side in Orlando, FL).

Places with competition have great pizza, and the ingredients have nothing to do with it. You can get awesome kosher pizza in NY or LA. Jewforpizza below needs to try the Calzone or Ziti at Cafe Roma on Amsterdam and 85th street (Upper West Side) or better yet, their Sicilian pizza is to die for.

And here I am now, looking for Jon’s number because I am about to order a pizza pie for the family. Hey, where else am I going to eat! Not like I have a choice.

Not at all correct. The issue is the rennet in cheeses. Kosher cheese just uses vegetarian rennet, and carries a guarantee from the rabbinical authorities that only vegetarian rennet was used in its manufacture. Of course, Jon’s also uses “chalav yisrael,” but that is a separate issue.

Kosher pizza can be just like non kosher pizza. You can use the best ingredients to make a delicious pie or you can use the cheapest ingredients to produce a pie that is not even eatible. The only criteria for Kosher is that the ingredients must be certified Kosher and the establishment must adhere to Kosher laws. If you don't enjoy pizza at a Kosher establishment, you must question the owners choice of ingredients, prep methods, the quality of the pizza oven used and the handling of product. Over 50% of the items sold in national supermarket chains are certified Kosher. No excuse for a bad pie, Kosher or not.

I live near Jons and even though there are several other kosher pizza stops in the area, I like Jons pizza the best. My kids actually won't eat the other pizza places pizza, even when we got a free pie (and we are Jews!!)
My wife likes the calzones, my kids like the ziti, lasagna and sicilians. I like the bagels that they make to order.
